  1. I'm not much of a saltwater fly fisher these days, but I have a buddy who loves to fish striped bass around bunker schools and he wants some bigger flies to try out next season. Big being 12-14", really large profile flies. I don't have much experience tying in these sizes. I've browsed around, but was hoping that some of you may have some pictures to share for inspiration or recommendations for materials that will remain castable. Yak, and some of the synthetic alternatives seem to be most commonly used from what I can tell. I've been reading about Mark Sedotti's mass-balanced flies, and how adding a certain amount of extra weight (in the form of lead wire) will actually improve castability significantly, even with flies up to 20". Has anyone ever experimented with Sedotti's Slammer style flies tied this way? Thanks in advance. This is not a style of tying I know much about, so I'm just hoping to get a little inspiration and maybe recommendations on patterns from the forum. Would love to see some bunker fly pics if anyone here ties big ones! Anything helps!
  2. Berry flies, eggs, big chartreuse terrestrials, tiny chartreuse woolly buggers/leeches. Those have always worked for me.
  3. Trout, bass, perch, crappie, sunfish, carp, pickerel, shiners! The mop owns them all!
  4. Alright, to fill everyone in, it seems like my package must have gotten lost somewhere simce it was shipped a while back. I have another in the mail with a bunch of extras for everyone. Very sorry for holding this up. Have a good Easter
  5. Add147, sent you a PM. Please let me know when you get a chance. Thank you
  6. Yep, I did one last year and we got a great selection. I'm in for this one for sure!
  7. One of the best flies ever created.
  8. Shoot, very sorry about that. They are in the mail now, should be a couple day. My sincerest apologies again
  9. Address please, I'll have mine tied up soon. Will either do a bass worm fly or some sort of big dry with an extended mop body.
  10. I would imagine the back sags down in the water with the head floating high? That's actually how I prefer my topwater to look, something about the tail slowly hanging down after a twitch seems to really trigger strikes. Nice pattern, I'm gonna have to tie some!
  11. Did mine ever show up? They should have arrived by now
  12. This was some sort of Tyers Dungeon dubbing. I'll get back on the name. Not the buggiest Ive used per se, but it has micro rubber strands and such in it that I think it makes for a good caddis. I'll be trying it on caddis nymphs next.
  13. Mine are in the mail as well. Should be there soon. I went with a balloon caddis, nice and high floating and tested out a new really buggy dubbing for the body. Hope everyone likes them.
  14. Can't seem to attach the picture from my phone so I'll try again later. I had never done much articulated streamera beforw so I started slightly easier, and did a Circus Peanut in black for a dirty water fly. After a few dozen of those I had 10 I felt good about, and mived onto the Trophy Dungeon in white for clearer water. I probably scraped a dozen attemptes before I got my first good one, and then ended up doing about 3 dozen of them and pucked the best 10. Now I feel comfortable tying the big stuff and have a ton mote streamers for this year, so thanks to easternfly for hosting!
  15. They are the single most effective fly I've ever used for trout - anywhere - and I fish 200-300 days a year with a lot of flies. They all work, better at different times and places. Pink/red/bloodworm are classics, but dark grewn, orange, and tan have all produced huge for me. I moved towards only using beadhead versions, either tungsten or brass. Theres good videos on how to tie them (Casters fly shop has one, they're the original "inventors" of the fly/material). Anyhoo, definitely worth adding to your box.
  16. Sorry, I've been away last week. Just confirming - 2 sets of 7 flies? I can do that for sure
  17. Mailing mine today, will send a pic later as well
  18. Done with my dirty water ones, will tie up a similar fly in a clear water color this week. Address to when you get a chance please
  19. Oh no, found the package burried under some stuff on my desk. Never shipped them! I will get these to the post office on am in hour and 2 day them over, sorry!
  20. Sorry Blane, forgot about this. Will get these flies in the mail tomorrow. Could you please PM me your address again? I seem to have deleted the message.
  21. Sorry for the delay, have been busy last couple days. Flies are packaged, going out soon! Please let me know when they start arriving, hopefully by mid to late this week.
