The problem I'm having is that i don't have any fly shops around me with the exception of Orvis, so i am unable to try different rods out. I have been considering just getting a Orvis for the fact the i can go to the store and try them out. Ive heard good things about the Recon.

Im ready for the address please.

Im ready for the address as well.

I have been doing a lot of research into getting an 8 wt rod. I have narrowed it down to a TFO BVK and a Redington Vapen. Any thoughts on either or any other good contenders? I will be using it for carp, bass, red fish and small strippers.

I know that I could have bought several big boxes full of files for what I have spent on tools & supplies. But then I wouldn't have the satisfaction of creating things. It is an enjoyable hobby and gives you something to do when you can't fish. I agree, just started this winter and spend well over $300 and only have about 40 flies to show for it so far. Of coarse i have the materials for about 200 more.

I am new to the site and would love to do a swap. Would appreciate it if someone could start a swap. Not anything too crazy as i am just starting to tie. Thank you

Bugsy- thats exactly what I'm asking. I want to be able to do 10 at one time so i won't be able to do that on my vice.

What can i use to put multiple copper johns on so that i can put epoxy on them? I thought maybe foam or something like that. Any ideas?

Thank you, i am looking forward to getting into a swap.

So i was wonder just how it works. Does everyone make a bunch of flies and 1 person receives them, splits them up and sends the different ones to everyone in the swap? Also they always seem to be full, how do you get into one?

Ok so i need some opinions on a good reel and line setup. It will be going on a Redington Vapen Black 8 WT. I plan to fish everything from bass, carp and big browns locally and Reds and stripers when i travel. With a budget of around $300 it is tough, I've been looking hard at the Redington Delta and the Ovis Hydros. The nautilus FWX has caught my eye too. As far as line goes I'm looking for 1 line that can do it all, although i think no line exists. Thank you

How do i get the wire wrapped body to be smooth and taper? I always get gaps in between the wire wraps and i can't get that smooth taper.

Ok so if i wanted to get one color and one size of hackle for a parachute adams for cost reasons, what color and size should i get?

Help with brown trout streamers

Thank you very much. Yes it is very limited. I have only tied about 20 flies so far. So far I've tried wooly bugger which is very simple, blue winged olive, parachute adams some nymphs and some caddis fly. I like the idea of using the big streamers for big trout but getting into tying them seems a bit intimidating. -

Thank you. i will be trying to tie some of these. -
I live in new york and will be fishing mostly small streams and the Battenkill. What are some easy streamers to tie that will catch some big browns?
