Small Uni soft wire.

I notice this a lot in articulated streamer flies. Many seem to be wooly bugger variants of some kind. Nothing wrong with that, just an observation.

Damn. I don't post much but I really enjoy reading your posts and watching your videos. All the best.

I actually enjoy the sped up videos with music, and materials flashed in front of the camera. I find them quick and to the point. To each his own I guess.

I love that first one. Reminds me of a maggot fly used after the salmon run here. -
Another vote for Lamson. I got a velocity 3.5 for $185 USD about a month ago. Buttery smooth drag. Look on eBay and you can find closeout reels for cheap.

I also think that keeping line off the water is a big advantage. That's why people who float fish for steelhead use 10-15' rods, to keep as much line off the water as possible, and get a near perfect drift.

Awesome flies. Have your ever cut the lively legs with your thread? I'm looking to get some but they look a bit delicate.

100% barbless for me. Never used them, never will.

Thanks for the help everyone. This forum is great.

Has anyone experienced the scents from their head cement putting off fish? Maybe catching more on an un-cemented fly than one with cement? I watched a video where someone was tying a carp fly, and he only used a small drop of thin water based cement, saying that the fish can smell the head cement, and will stay away from it. It seems unlikely, but I thought I should ask you guys.

These 'Piopod' miniature garbage bins from Fishpond work great.

I had good success on bucktail flies (clousers etc.) and jigs. Black worked best, and yellow was a close second. I fished them just above the weeds, letting them fall into holes.

I second 'whisky belly sparkle ass'.
