hey Ray. hows it goin? Those things look great!! Juice gave me one of the biot nymphs you sent as an extra in the last swap. I just loved the way it looked, An exact replica of our local stonefly nymph! A for sure fish catcher. I have wanted to try a biot body for some time. now its a no-brainer. I'll tie some up based on your patterns. He's my brother, and after seeing the great set of nymphs you sent, he noticed your a DVM. So he asked me what "catgut" was ( I think he thought we would have to do something awfull to a cat to get some :hyst: ) He was really suprised when i handed him a pack the next day We both plan to tie some of those also. great tying! and thanks for the inspiration; chris

very nice! i realy like the cdc one. And I think that the ribbing in the second one realy adds to emerging body. it blends with the body. to a keen eye it may look like "ribbing" or segments. but from a periferal veiw or distant veiw; It can create a glow or an orra that makes the body appear larger in diametre than it realy is. mimicking a pupa body nice ties Mike

dude, the tweezer trick is right on. you can make em any way you want em to look. on the subject . my wife buys a 1/4 oz. bottle of "red nail polish" for about 14$ and i saw a gallon of high gloss red paint for the same price.? But i don't think i'll get her to bite :hyst:

OK. I was unsure of how to photograph in water. I tried to do it thru an aquarium glass, but it dosn't always work. I'll deffinantly try the lid trick. Your right on, when this guy is under water you can see the gills and anttenae flare out well.

Thanks Harold, but they are real. They were found in an illinois stream this weekend and now reside in an aquarium on my desk. Just thought i would share for the realistic and impressionistic tiers out there.

it's OK stony. right now I am suffering from Obssesive Caddis Disorder myself. but Mayflies are fasinating anrn't they

there are several in the database. check out the "my flies" button at the bottom of this reply and i've got some mullberry flies and a good surface fly labled the surface scum that works good . there are also several older posts that list some good patterns. If i knew how to add a link i would, but you can search the site for "carp" and get some good ideas. good luck. those golden beauties will be hungry when the ice goes out
