  3. Hi, sorry for not being clear Grip hook is Maruto Dohitomi re-branded. So try to find Maruto in US, probably is more easy to find under original name. A lot of " big brands" sell maruto under different names cheers Lucian
  4. Is maruto dohitomi rebranded

  6. Hi, Spiky dubb is guard hair dubb mixed with underfur in the following proportion: 3/4 guard hair and 1/4 underfur
  7. Here are 2 bugs simple to tie and work excellent for trout fishing. I use them in Spring time and I higly recommend these kind of bugs Materials used: Hook Demmon DGH 900 #12-14 Thread: 8/0 Uni Thread Body: Spike Dubbing – natural Thorax: Black Synthetic Ribbing: gold wire Bead: Tungsten Hot Spot: fire orange thread Materials used: Hook Demmon DGH 900 #12-14 Thread: 8/0 Uni Thread Body: Squirrel Dubb - yellow/olive Thorax: Black Synthetic Ribbing: gold wire Bead: Tungsten Hot Spot: Perdigon flat tinsel - pearl uv color
  8. Thanks for your kind words . @flymaker - For ribbing is used silver wire because is better than tinsel
  9. I used MP tool clip. Now I use Vosseler clip only. Better tool by far
  10. Hi guys, I know that the bright bright colors are not so popular in US and some flies like this bellow don't attract fishermen. But I tell you that works fantastic for trout fishing and grayling too. Especially in very fast flowing parts or in deep pools, or in rivers with dark stones. I use them also on muddy waters. This fly was one of the top 3 successful fly used in World Championship in Slovenia - a few years ago. So if you try to test it here is the recipe: Hooks: barbles #14, 16 and #18 Thread: black thin thread Body: pheasant barbs dyed black Tail: rooster barbs dyed black Thorax dubbing: black with green/blue reflex synthetic dubbing Thorax Cover: Flashy back strips in peacock color Hot Shot: orange thread or bright red Bead: tungsten in any color and size you like
  11. Thanks. Another very simple one, practically is a bug tied based on GRHE pattern: These flies are my main flies for starting season for trout fishing. Tied in different sizes (from #10 down to #14) with tungsten gold bead, copper bead or black beads. Sometimes I use very large beads due to high waters and high speed . thanks, Lucian
  12. thanks for your kind words @corney - I use guard hare for dubbing - for this reason the body is so spiky. I tie them on size #10 down to #14 another one: cheers, Lucian
  13. Hi, Here are 2 nymphs that I use a lot for trout fishing when the season is starting. I consider them my best searching flies. One is tied on curved hook with peacock tinsel from Uni Canada and the second is tied on jig hook without any ribbing. I hope you find them interesting . cheers Lucian [/img]
  14. Thanks guys for opinions and feedback. I use these flies because they snag less between rocks and drift woods on the bottom (they swim mostly with the point up ).In the past I used in our local competitions almost 10 years ago with high success. In my opinion the presentation is better compared with classic nymphs. At jig nymph the body swim more parallel with river bank, Also when the fly sinks the nymph is orientated with the head down and not hang with tail down and bead up like the classic types. It looks like a nymph that swim to hide on the bottom of the river. Another good aspect - you can play more easy and more effective, exactly like in the case you play soft lure for catching bass under big leaves or logs. I prefer to use them in fast and rocky rivers and on the hooks tied between #18 and #12. For example these 2 bellow are my most used nymphs in Summer and Autumn, practically are my "classic searching" patterns *the classic version: *the jig version:
  15. Hi guys, When I fish with nymphs I like to use jig nymphs in rivers with big rocks and lots of snags. These are what I use on big and medium rivers. What about yours? thanks Lucian
  16. Flies for these days ( especially for trout and sometimes, on small hooks for grayling): cheers, Lucian
  17. thanks! The thorax is made of purple troutline fine loch dubbing with a pinch of guard hair from hare (50% each mixed ). Ribbing is troutline UV ribbing - violet bellow is another similar tied with partridge and spike dubbing: and a close photo too see how a good spike dubbing looks in water here is an recent article about these type of nymphs used more and more in our rivers from Europe: http://www.flytying.ro/spider-effect-tie-better-nymphs/ cheers Lucian
  18. Hi guys, For those who love jigging here is one nymph that will not disappoint you : Here is the same fly tied with gold bead but dry - photo wad made on my tying desk: Material used: Hook Demmon Jig competition Barbless size #14 Thread: 17/0 Uni Body: PT pheasant barbs Hot Spot: Orange Thread Ribbing: UV violet ribbing fibers Torax: a mix of spike dubbing with pink and violet synthetic fibers Hackle: Troutline CDC natural dark tan An important tip that will help the fly to have more movement in water - I never make the torax between hackle and bead. The CDC hackle should stay open like an umbrella and for this reason I fix the CDC between torax and bead. The CDC barbs will pulse in water very easy and more attractive. I call it " the spider effect" cheers Lucian
  19. For those interested in how to chose the right tungsten beads here are 2 articles: http://www.flytying.ro/choosing-tungsten-beads/ http://www.flytying.ro/tungsten-beads-and-hooks/ cheers, Lucian
  20. For streamer here is one very nice: And for lake flies like blobs and even for bread flies dedicated for carp: Both are Demmon Competition series used in Europe a lot. cheers Lucian
  21. these are tied by me these days for fishing on Dunajec river in Poland
  22. Hi Mikechell, I use BL hooks because I like to release faster the fish. Sometimes when the fish is too big and the leader is too thin , in fighting time I don't put tension in the line and the fish is free in a sec. Never happened this even with micro barbs. cheers, Lucian
  23. agree flytire but these flies works A bunch ready to be stored in my box:
  24. not really is different than Hanak, is a Maruto Dohitomi 9626 Here is a spider tied on this hook:
