Yeah, I guess I'm not really trying to change the action that much (although like I said, adding weight there probably isn't much way around it).. the D&D has been a proven successful pattern, a lot of which is probably attributed to the unique action. I was just curious as to if anybody has had any luck fishing a weighed version. Streamer fishing is hands down becoming my favorite method of fly fishing so I'm often out in higher flows/stained water, which is why a heavier rod with a sinking line is pretty much inevitable for me sooner or later. Thanks for the input guys!

Just curious if anybody here has ever tied a weighted version of Tommy Lynch's D&D pattern? I've been contemplating adding a 7/8 weight rod with sink tip line to my arsenal solely for fishing streamers (mainly unweighted patterns), but for the past couple years have fished floating lines with weighted streamers in my home waters and done well. I realize adding weight, whether it be through dumbbell eyes or lead wire might alter the intended action of the streamer a bit, but just curious if any of you have experimented with this and had any success?

Maybe not exactly something bad about tying itself, but more about my recent 7 month streamer junkie binge that I don't see subsiding any time soon. I've become completely addicted to browsing the web for new patterns and ideas to incorporate into existing ones. I will usually come across something at least once a week that makes me think, "hmmm, that'll probly work." It typically isn't more than a few days later I'm ordering materials online or making a run to the local fly shop. To the point now where I need to look into some extra storage. Again... is it necessarily a bad thing? Maybe not. My bank account has seen better days though.

I tie a fair share of deer hair streamer heads. I like GSP... Specifically Veevus 100 or 150.

flyguy - purple streamers are dope! looks like an articulated variation of a Rich Strolis ice pick. Is there anything on the trailing hook besides the zonker strip and what looks like ice wing fiber? Thanks.. Good stuff!

Going along with what mike said -- I don't tie/use many worm patterns but I recently came across the thought that longer ends produce better movement. Makes sense.
