I like it! I've shyed away from a loop when fishing 30-40lb mono because it looked too bulky and out of place. Will certainly give this a go. Thanks

Good stuff Capt. Question.. what knot do you have that google eyed, bait buster tied with?

Nice! Thanks for sharing.

Still consistently catching 6 lbers in the Caloosahatchee. Thanks to dad's last cast. I went from stowing tackle boxes and rods, to net man. My son got a good one on a Texas rigged worm, and a jaguar on topwater.

Caloosahatchee has been on π₯. We caught some more nice bass this morning.

Had a great morning with dad. We might have caught 15-20 bass. Biggest were 6.5 and 6.9. Of course the big one dad had on got away. Could have been 8+. I let dad run the trolling motor as we slow dragged big worms off of ledges. We had a blast.

No snook on the last day of season. That's ok, a bunch of nice bass, and another big garπ¬. It was an awesome last 1/2 hour of daylight, with strikes on the topwater plug every other cast. Then i caught the big one and figured that was a good way to end it, before the long 30 minute boat ride home. Just as I was coming into town I seen a fireball arise and cross the sky in front of me.Didn't realize there was a falcon heavy launch today. It was a pretty awesome sight from the boat. My phone wouldn't focus very well.

Another Caloosahatchee River monster. This one was about a 4 1/2 ft gar on a spinning rod with 20lb braid. I tried to boat him to save my $15 lure. But I couldn't keep a grip around his tail to lift him in the boat. I had him around the mid section at one point against the boat. He didn't like that. That 5 inch lure in the 12 inch jaws lined with needles was too close for comfort. Finally my lure came free! I sat the rod down crabbed with two hands and dragged a 1/3 of his body up over the side of the boat on the back deck. Then he kicked and slipped off to the river. Oh well, big cat the other day, and big gar today.... at least I know my drag is performing as it should Today and tomorrow are the last days to keep a snook till September. I'll try again tonight, and tomorrow morning. Then I'll be on the hunt for big gills and bass.

Yes sir. It's a blue. I did a quick search to see what the Florida state record was after I landed it. 69 lbs.. nope this wasn't a record, but a still a monster.

Surprise catch last night while snook fishing. Caught him on a rapala Xrap with 15# mono. Realized halfway through the fight that it wasn't acting like a snook. Thought I snagged a gator till it got close enough to spot with my head light. Biggest catfish I've ever seen in person.

Gills and cichlids in the morning in dads boat. Then took my boat down the river in the afternoon snook fishing. No snook, but I did lose a 7--8lb bass and caught a big jaguar on a topwater plug. While snook fishing I saw a bunch of big cichlids in one spot. I couldn't help but to tug on 3 or 4 of these before moving on.

Haven't thrown a fly in a while. I've been focused on getting snook for the freezer the last couple months. Now is the time to start targeting big gills. Went with my son and dad this morning. They got several on π¦ and I got several on fly. Dad got a few on fly also. The 3wt. got a good workout this morning with gills and cichlids. Tons of fun for sure. These were a few on fly.

π Awesome. Tell your friend to keep taking pics for you to share.

Had a ball this morning. Landed 4 snook. 2 were over slot, one under, and one just right for frying. All on 15lb mono, 30lb leader and a rapala x-rap.
-
Caught a nice 30 in slot fish this morning in the boat. When I hooked up he went airborne, with a double flip. Then a some tail walking. An awesome sight after 6-7 outings of getting skunked.

Our local town festival kicks off with the only fishing tournament that I fish in. The rules are simple...weigh in the one biggest bass you catch per person. Entry fee is $25 per person. Live bait (shiners) is allowed.Usually a 4 or 5 pounder will get you a top 10. For the first time my dad fished the tournament with me. We had a great day of catching and culling nice bass around 3lbs. all on artificial. Ended up in 2nd and 3rd place We couldn't believe it. They haven't given trophies for as long as I remember...it's pretty awesome we got trophies to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the tournament.A memory with dad I'll always cherish..

You'll be a 1 hour 40 minute drive from me. I know nothing of the salt fishing near you. But shoot me a message if you want a guided freshwater trip on lake o while you're down..

Interesting. I saw a picture of a local crappie last winter that looked like that.
