Yeah, I'm seeing myself slip back into the darkness... I don't disagree with you. Guilty as charged...

Maybe that explains why my "three fly rigs" always end up as a "one tangled mess".... Stiffer mono! (I hear my sister somewhere in the distant past ribbing, "no duh, Steve")

4.5" bulldog clip as CDC / Dubbing loop clamp

Perfect! Sandan comes through once again -
I'm right behind you Bob, 30 years this coming April 14. Still get the itch once in a while, but it passes. Back in the '90s when "big tobacco" started taking huge hits, one claimed principle behind price increases was that there was a direct correlation between price of each cigarette and the quantity smoked. Not sure if that ever really held water or whether it still does, or whether that should even matter. Just glad I'm not smoking. Let's see, a pack a day not smoked for 30 years times $8... $77,200.

Troutrageous. Seriously, wow -
You also can cut up some bits 1" or so and mix up / add to dubbing.

4.5" bulldog clip as CDC / Dubbing loop clamp

Thanks all. I've got a cheap "homemade" version that works well enough for my purposes. But it takes up space I was hoping to free up. I was hoping those compact surgical bulldogs would do the trick, but apparently not... So it looks like either the Loon D-loops or the Swiss clip... And just about now my analysis paralysis sets in. Seriously, though, thanks. This is all good input. -

Hadn't been aware of those, thanks -
Anyone use one of these extra long, straight flat bulldog clips in lieu of the Swiss clip or petitjean clips for setting up hair, fur and feathers on a dubbing loop?

I was completely fooled, thought it was a neat pic of an emerging dragonfly. Only realized it was a fly when I read Heff's comment about the hook. Hat's off to you

Oh, I did it solo just for a break... Dad's stuck at home recovering from a near-death hospital trip. He seems to be turning a corner, though, which is a welcome relief. Anyways, it was just the thing to remind me of what a great childhood he gave me.

Hah! You can always bunt, ---- "and the fans go wild at the RBI king!" Roooaaaarrr!!!!!!! (Just wear a helmet) Actually, the swing doesn't have to be that fast at the 40mph cage. (That's the one I could connect with on most swings, and without throwing my shoulder out. Just accept some heavy breathing, it IS a bit of a workout at ~60....) Yikes I'm almost 60

Visiting my dad, went to the old batting cage he used to take me to as a kid. Boy, what a blast that was. Highly recommended. A forgotten but not lost whammo of fun.

Hey, it's well known that swooping down to capture bloodworms is one of the key life cycle moments of many mayflies, when they are most vulnerable to being eaten by highly selective trout in the most demanding fly fishing environments. The biggest, most ambitious mayflies often drown in the process, so this should work well both wet and dry.
