  1. Woolly worms are great fish catchers, as are woolly boogers, I'm wondering if there are any more differences than the tail. It appears to me to be the only one.
  2. That's a pretty good picture of the Grey Ghost. I think the only way to make it much better would be to shoot it through a ring light. That's made all the difference for me. Unless you want to go all out with a full photo set up like Kimo and them do. It can get quite technical if you're not careful. Those guys make it look easy but it's kind of over my head.
  3. Yes, thanks for the reminder. I need to work on the GRHE too so I'm going to tie that too. I always tie what I want to get good at.
  4. You are being pretty kind. I used to think that "Good enough for fish" was " Good enough" but you guys ( and you know who you are) on this web site are a bad influence on me and I'm starting to become a "fly snob". Subtleties that didn't used to bother me are starting to. I generally have to tie a few extras for my own box to have enough "Good" ones for a swap. I finally had to settle on these twelve so I could get onto the next batch. I'm afraid I've been getting into too many swaps lately. Thank you mister, I appreciate a good mention.
  5. Here's my first batch, starting on the second in the next day or two. Pheasant Tail Nymphs
  6. Thanks, we are getting pretty close to 750 out of the fish house this season. That's how many we have caught, we've probably kept about 80 of them. We do have a lot of fun in that house.
  7. Wow he is chubby. But we on the hefty side prefer words like "Robust" and "Healthy", wouldn't want you to hurt his feelings.πŸ˜„ Nice fish.
  8. Some Pheasant Tail nymphs for a swap.
  9. Hi Barry, I have sold the tool sharpening business, two or three years ago, to go into full time knife making. I still make and sharpen a few custom cutting tools for industry. The store I speak of is a custom knife shop, and art gallery that we built so my wife could come to work with me in our "Store" If you are interested, you can check out our Face Book page here. https://www.facebook.com/Edge-of-the-Arctic-Trading-Post-Custom-Knives-and-Art-Gallery-1279208402245738/?modal=admin_todo_tour The store was our major source of income after Angel left her $60K job to work here. Everything was going fine until the virus. I'm not complaining, just answering the OPs original statement. He said- "I don't see how this COVID-19 is slowing down the economy" In a month, half a dozen people have walked into the store. I'm not sure how "CARES" is going to compensate me for my lost business. As far as I know, there's only a $10,000.00 small business loan available to me as a small business owner. It costs a lot more than that to stay in business for just one month. Just to be clear, I'm not asking anyone to compensate me for my lost business. I am completely willing to and insisting on standing up on my own two feet. Again, I'm not complaining. I take things as they come, one day at a time. This will pass and when it does we will pay our debts. Until then, our debtors will just have to wait. In the mean time I have four full freezers, (fish, caribou and moose) and a 50 pound bag of rice and a 50 pound bag of beans.
  10. Very nice Woolly Worms and Buggers Norm. Is the only difference between a woolly worm and a bugger the tail?
  11. No sun fish on this one, nice variety of other stuff though. I had a pet gar when I was in high school, named Snidely Whiplash. A little smaller than that one. The way they hunt is pretty cool. They slowly pull up with their nose beside a minnow and quickly snap sideways to grab the fish. Hence his name, Snidely Whiplash. Looks like a nice day on the water.
  12. Yep, here's mine. https://www.markknappalaskaadventures.com/videos
  13. OH man, you see that's the difference between you and me. I try not to let things like that get in the way of what's really important. It's all about priorities. Now what did I do with my 3 wt. from last fall? (just kidding, I won't need a fly rod for at least another month).
  14. You have chosen wisely. Now go out into the world and show us the fishes you have gathered.
  15. Cool, it's going to be like Christmas around here pretty soon. I got three batches of flies coming.
  16. To bad you didn't have a Face Book Page back then. I could check that. Glad you made it back from the dark side. I know a couple of past roadies, for the Rolling Stones and a couple of other groups. They got stories too, wild times. In the 80's, I moved to Alaska to be a big game guide, commercial fisherman and professional trapper. Got the nick name Mountain Man Mark. Those were good times for me. I got some memories that I cherish, livin' on the edge, but not, apparently, like you. Mums the word. Nice fish, thanks for showing them to us.
  17. Nice job. Looks like you had a great time. I have just one question. Why are you so mad, Duck?πŸ˜€ Nice fish.
  18. At least they opened the resident bear hunts back up in Alaska. Bear hunting is a solitary thing. All our ramps and parks are still open for now. Of course, everything's still frozen too.
  19. Boy Oh Boy, this virus aint good for much but it is good for fly tying.
  20. Thanks. That's Loon clear UV resin on that one. I used stick on eyes and wanted to make sure they stayed. I like them that way.
  21. Nice Job, welcome to the forum. I have some of those hooks too. They work good on poppers for big pike. The hook guard makes it a little harder to tie on them.
