Understood. When I am tying a classic salmon fly, the wing is always made up of a number of different species of birds including swan, turkey, bustard (2 varieties), pheasant, peacock and goose of course. I learned a long time ago the trick to working with these various feathers is to be subtle. Gently stroke and pat the feather strips togethers...brute force just doesn't work. Of all the feathers I've named here, without a doubt pheasant (any variety) is a royal pain in the ass...period!! The rest are easy. Just practice a bit and you'll get it. You obviously have the tying talent to make it happen. Hope this helps.

I totally agree on the married wings.

I'll add to that...What's a hornbill?

Haven't tied in a couple of months, so decided to shake off the rust by tackling the granddaddy of the classics which I last tied several years ago...the Jock Scott. It put me to the test and it was fun. Not my best effort, but a good way to get back into it. The fly stills needs some final preening, but that is always what I do after photographing the fly The pictures seem to show details that the fly just sitting in the vise does not.

Sorry...but I haven't a clue why.

I remember seeing a psychiatrist on TV in the not too distant past who said as long as you don't go overboard, go ahead and buy a ticket or 2. Don't get your hopes up but the pleasure of thinking what you can do with the money in a positive sense can be uplifting and fun. Sure I bought a ticket...Why not? 💲💲💲

Hmmm...I wonder why. You are the first to mention this. As a total techie doofus that is about the best I can offer. 🤪

Very true...and looking at the entire cast it was just incredible.

Several mentions of John Wayne's great role as Rooster Cogburn. I have to add my favorite starring "The Duke" is The Shootist.

Orange always seems to appeal to trout and salmon. Add the peacock herl and this pattern should be deadly!!

I read about this earlier today. I'll be real polite Norm and keep it to myself what I would do to these guys. The one thing about the article that make me mad is they refer to this as "fishing". It is criminal poaching and the criminals should be punished accordingly and NOT associated with people the folks here who are fishermen and ladies.

You tie some wild and crazy stuff. Now if we could only get rid of the coffee (?) drop stain in the background. 😂

Just a couple of favorites of mine..."October Sky" & "Second Hand Lions" The first is based on a true uplifting story and the other is just plain fun. If you have Amazon Prime and are a fan of "The Lord of the Rings" watch the "Rings of Power" series.
