  1. Very nice fly and an excellent step by step pictures!!!
  2. I'm in if it's ok to do the foam version of the Dahlberg Diver called the Foamberg.
  3. I would like to apologize to everyone, I sent my flies out early today because it needed the extra time to completely cure. It takes a lot of time for acrylic to dry. I usually tie these flies in the winter months as it cures faster compared to more humid conditions as we have now.
  4. Please count me! I will tie Glen Mikkleson's Acrylic Crab.
  5. If you keep it small 10 flies or less I'm in.
  6. Got the flies in the mail today and all I can say is WOW! All flies were very nicely tied and look even better in person. I would also like to thank C for hosting this swap!
  7. After looking at all the pictures of the great looking flies being tied for this swap I feel a little embarrassed about the flies I will be sending in. In any case here's a picture of the black/purple snake flies I have tied. I have caught some very large striped bass with this fly while fishing at night and hope it will also be successful for you all.

  11. I'm in with a nightime Lou Tabory's Snake Fly.
  12. Noreast used to have that fly pattern but who knows what happened to it? Don Avondolio was good friends with Charlie if you contact Don he should know the recipe for that fly. You can find Don's contact email at the Saltwater Fly Anglers of Delaware website.
  13. Tie up some big crease flies. They work great on all species of fish.
  14. I'm in!! 60* Hollow Fleye (weighted)
  15. Yes, I have to say J/Bay is 1 of my favorite early spring locations.
  16. javicruzito, how about a fly tying recipe for that fly?
  17. 2 weeks ago I watched Joe Blados and Glen Mikkleson tie up many different flies. While watching Joe tie his crease fly he used markers to color and blend into the foam. He then applied a very small amount of 30 minute epoxy at the head of the fly and used his finger to spread the epoxy all around the fly making a very thin coat. With some flies after applying the epoxy he sprinkled some very fine glitter. Also very important to put some epoxy inside the mouth of the fly.
  18. EP flies are not started right behind the hook eye. They are started further down the hook shank and you work your way forward. Here's how you tie that type of "fly".
  19. I am surprised nobody has mentioned it but for me the Hollow Fleye has been the best fish catching fly for the last 3 years. I like tying them with either a saddle hackle or bunny strip tail. A close second would be a clouser again using a hackle or bunny strip tail.
  20. Yes the saddles are tied in flatwing style. and each saddle is separated using bucktail. I also tie some using marabou instead of bucktail. It separates the saddles more than the bucktail can makes for a more bulky fly. I posted a picture using marabou instead of bucktail with the tying instructions, you can see how much more the saddles are separated in that picture.
  21. A new addition to the fly pattern database has been submitted by KayakerStan: Deer Head Chicken Scratch
  22. Thanks everyone!!! I will try to take some pictures and put up a step by step of how to tie this fly. As for recipe: 1- 3/0 SC 15 gamakatsu hook 2- 4 saddle hackles (2 white, 1 yellow, 1 yellow grizzly) 3- 1 red marabou 4- White & Pink bucktail 5- 2 strands of pearl flashabou 1 strand of silver flashabou 6- Yellow, white, & black deer belly hair 7- Red/black molded eyes 1. Use any thread you would prefer I use mono start tying a small pinch of white bucktail to the bend of the hook. 2. Tie in 1 white saddle hackle (including the fluff) on top of the bucktail. 3. Tie in a small pinch of pink bucktail. 4. Tie in second white saddle hackle. 5. Tie in small pinch of pink bucktail. 6. Tie in pearl flashabou then a yellow saddle hackle. 7. Tie in a pinch of pink bucktail. 8. Tie in silver flashabou and yellow grizzly hackle. Everything above is tied in on top of 1 another. 9. Tie in the red marabou 1/2 on each side so it looks like gills. 10. Tie in a clump of white deer belly hair once tied in use half that amount of yellow and tie it directly on top of the white. 11. Tie in a very small amount of black deer belly hair in front of the white/yellow. 12. Repeat # 10. 13. Repeat # 11. 14. Repeat #10, tie off and apply head cement. 15. Trim bottom portion of beer belly hair flat as close to hook shank as possible. 16. Round off the top as seen in picture posted above. 17. Trim a small indent area on both sides of the fly and insert red/black molded eyes so it sits flush with the sides. Make sure you apply either goop, rubber cement or some other adhesive to the molded eyes before inserting them.
  23. When big stripers are finicky I will usually put on this fly. Here's another picture.
