Where would I find pre-wrap?

I appreciate the great suggestions. Is flexi floss the stuff that comes on a spool and is applied with a bobbin?

Using traditional humpy pattern with floss body. The body kept unraveling after a few fish. What other materials can I substitute to make a more durable humpy body?

What do you guys think of this pattern? Would it ride hook down since the rabbit strip is over the cone? Weamer Streamer http://www.montanafly.com/productDetail.php?p_id=950

Chris, On the Double Bunny, if you weight the shank does it ride hook up or down? Max.

You do have a good point. I was pleased with the action.

Al, I had attached the rabbit wing matuka style but used about 10 wraps of lead behind the cone. I will try reversing the wing and see what happens. I would be pleased if it rides hook up. I am also going to try using less lead. Thanks for the reply. Max.

I tied a cone head steamer with lead wrapped on the shank. It had brown rabbit on top with white marabou on the bottom. I was hoping the brown would ride up with a white under belly. It rode on its side. If it was a conehead only would it ride hook down? If it was lead shank only would it ride hook down?

Thanks for all the help guys. Looks like I shouldn't have any problem down to size 20. So far the best price I have found is $130. Maybe an after Christmas sale will pop up soon.

I am looking for a vise that will hold trout flies rock solid. I mostly tie trout nymphs size 12 & 14, midges in size 18 & 20, buggers in size 8 & 6. Would the Dyna-King Kingfisher be a good fit for my tying? Very interested to hear how it does with the size 20 hook? I do want to stay as close to $130 as possible. Sorry, there isn't one in town for me to try, it would be purchased over the net. Thanks for the help.

My Zap-a-gap came with a small long nozzle. I have no idea how to get it on or cap it when done. So what do you use Zap-a-gap for the most?

How does the Pig Sticker fish? Better than the SWJ? Nice flies.

Kev, How are you making the foam look like that?

I was going to order some Wiggle Critter and Diver heads. Wanted to know if anybody else has fished them? Does the Wiggle Critter fish better than a popper? Does the Diver dive very deep with the foam head? I currently use the Dahlburg Diver and was wondering how it compared? http://www.questoutdoors.net/skills/ftying...per-bodies.html

It has been a great pattern for me this fall. I just use thread for the loop instead of mono. http://www.flyanglersonline.com/flytying/f...011904fotw.html

Thanks for the info. Great help!!!

Terry, To make them durable there is some tying involved. I put a small thread dam right behing the eye and a thread base down the shank. Then I zap a gap it before putting the egg on. Finally I put a small thread dam behind it. There now you have a fly. Also when a seven pound bow is ripping line of your reel, I don't care what you call it. Max.

1) I am having trouble locating a good hook for a trout clouser, I ended up with a Daiichi 1750 which is a 4xl streamer hook, I wanted something with a smaller gap than the saltwater hooks, what do you use? 2) If I tied it on a regular streamer hook I would have a turned up eye, any idea how this would effect that action of the fly? 3) Do you even out the tips of your hair before putting it on? 4) I have read to tie the clouser sparse, true for trout also or just for saltwater? 5) What colors have worked for trout?
