I am sorry to hear that. Someone I know had a collection of canadian made lures that were quite rare stolen from his home near vancuver. even though they knew who had done it, don was never able to get them back. tell the shops it was stolen from you and you do plan to be checking from time to time. do the pawn shops have to get id from anyone selling and register the property? some cities do that to deter the shops from peddling stolen stuff. I do of someone who caught somebody rummaging in his truck once on the river. the would be thief went for a swim in the fall marc

Actually, the use of nail polish has been around for years. when I lived on vancouver island, one of the most respected fisherman in the area was a great fan of a jig lure called a buzzbomb. tex would have a tacklebox full of polish and he would change colours until he got the bangon combo. marc

I have played with an earlier model a few years back when jay was quite unknown. the quality of jays product is absolutely first rate and you would likely never have to buy another vise. If I could afford another vise, his would be the way I would go. they are not inexpensive, but are well worth the price. marc

Nice-I see your in my former stomping grounds in BC. there are some very good tiers on that site as I know a few of them. marc

Actually, I suspect the reason may be more about liability for JS. by saying they are not suitable for extensions, they are protecting themselves. if someone did react and try to sue, they point out the warning. smart on their part. marc

If you look o stockards site they say the hackles are not suitable for the hair so they are doing their part.

In BC the atlantics if caught in a stream are catch/kill. there has been some people pushing for better protection of the bass, but those in the trout/salmon side do not want it. marc

ahh yes that bugger saw a friend pull a 25in brown on one east of canmore on the bow. they should work well the oens you have tied. marc

having had time to ponder this, are we not being unfair to the providers? they are after all a business and the goal is to make money. i think whiting has addressed the demand the best way. we may not like it, that said, maybe they can expand their business to address the fad and still keep us happy. it will take a bit of time to adjust their business thats all. In british columbia, there have been escapees from the atlantic salmon fish farms who have shown much to our federal fisheries surprise in rivers. bass have been in BC waters for many decades after being stocked illegally. In fact a individual a couple of years back was charged quite heavily for planting a few in a lake. one of the methods they came up with out there instead of poisoning lakes and restocking to get rid of perch, was to plant triploid rainbows that are piscorvius in nature(these are fish that eat baitfish-in particular they use a strain called the blackwater rainbow). these bows have the spawning gene removed and they eat and grow rapidly. the person who runs the freshwater side is brian chan. fortunately, the province does not interfere with him as they know he would make them look stupid. marc

Great link that blog! here is fishy fullums version. marc -
nice fly-I had to crawl under a trailer once to check for rats. when I noticed several widows I crawled out mighty quick! told the guy the widows were not part of the deal. never did find out how his rats were solved as he did not want to pay for his spiders too. marc

I woulld give a tom thumb a go. easy to tie and fish love them subsurface. http://www.flytying.ca/dryflys/tom_thumb_dry_fly.htm It is a well known dry in western canada, especially BC, but I do think it would work perfectly well on panfish and if tied larger, bass. marc

metal bead chain bungy cord for legs caulk foam for windows(poppers) glues any other suggestions? marc
-
I take it that is a serious reaction to the feathers? I spoke to a retailer online here in Ontario and they said the magnum barred hackles are very hard to find until the next batch is ready and it will have an impact price wise. marc
-
the window caulk foam is great for poppers. for 5 bucks you can make alot of flys. I have some bungee aroun somewhere... marc

I just looked at the prices on ebay and what they sell the extensions for is pricy. laura, as stated, you will not get alot of help here. many flyshops are now refusing orders from the fashion industry for the hackles becuase they know they will be one time customers versus tyers who will provide many years of business potentally. marc
