  1. I like them both... I probably end up using the chenille more than the body wrap. https://youtu.be/g5j_SWavdOc
  2. I used to fiddle with different knots for tying flies on, but I learned that the good ol' clinch knot is about as good as any for 90% of my flies. I use a loop knot when fishing really big stuff or streamers. Conventional gear fishing for Bass is where the rubber meets the road, and I'll use a palomar knot because of the force generated when setting the hook (Much much more than a fly rod can generate.) I have snapped 40 pound braid setting the hook on a 3 pound fish before.... Also, like Mikechell says, the palomar is one of the best knots for braided line.
  3. If you want the ultimate tube experience... try the stuff from Pro Sportfisher. Their stuff is absolutely the easiest to use in regards to tubes.
  4. Dat bunny midge tho... Nice work
  5. Chemically sharpened, micro barb or barbless, not brittle. That's my favorite hook.
  6. You get more views with more vids... Just FYI. Yes they are basically the same fly, just one has KF for a wing. My vids usually take 7-10 hours to make, I did kill 2 birds with one stone and made both of the videos in 10 hours. Lol. Made my life easier. If you noticed, this is the first video I posted earlier than 2-3AM... It was nice getting to bed by 12AM last night. Are you still not motivated by views/hits/$$$ and just doing the site for fun? Getting views is part of the fun. The other part is tying the flies. I never said though I'm only doing this for the fun. I said it was a labor of love. Yes it's fun, yes I would do it if that was the only motivator, no it's not the only motivator. Omg how dare anyone try to get more views! That evil view getter McFly! Hahahahahaha. Your funny cheech! I'm all about that view count boss... However, if there were a channel that had separate videos for every variation of a zebra midge I wouldn't watch them all. I'd just see a picture and see "oh, he added flash this time" or "oh, he tied it in brown this time" and "oh, he used a tungsten bead this time" and "oh, he used blue wire this time." Also, a Zebra Midge video shouldn't take 5 hours to make. Maybe 5 minutes to film, 10 minutes to drop in the intro that is already pre done, and an hour at most recording and editing voiceover. Also, regarding views etc, there is no harm in admitting that you would like to eventually turn a profit from a video channel. Some guys can actually make a living finding a way to use "views" and turning them into "dollars."
  7. Jerry is a master. I love watching his vids.
  8. IMO, You could have knocked out two birds with one stone had you only posted this video. The zebra midge video is basically covered in this one too. I love fishing zebras.
  9. If I owned the peak, I would love to do a comparison. I just don't, and cannot afford to buy another. Sorry... Anyone else own both and want to chime in? I have both. The Peak is far superior. The angle of the jaw of the Atlas is a deal breaker due to the notches in the jaw. It's really difficult to get a big hook to "seat" correctly with the current angle setup. Also, the Peak is much smoother out of the box.
  10. I really didn't start fly fishing until I got married in 2000. I was working at a call center on the Spanish line so there was a lot of time between calls. A buddy brought in his grandpa's old kit, and we swapped back and forth tying the most ugly creations imaginable. I always loved abstract art in school, so I kind of took tying flies as a new art form. I didn't have any books or videos to go on, so a lot of what I did was freelance. Through a lot of trial and error, I finally met up with some people who showed me how to fish a bit better, and then it grew from there. About 10 years ago is when I really started dedicating myself to tying innovative, clean, and tidy patterns for any species I could find. Since that time I have been a contract tyer for Rainy's, and now Fulling Mill, and then Curtis and I started Fly Fish Food... The rest is history.
  11. Do whatever De Creeeeeeeam and Wonderboy Dan say. Veevus 200D is the best.
  12. And they are so strong, you could run them over your carpet and pick up any hooks that have fallen. My desk is in my basement, and it flooded very slightly one year. Instead of replacing the carpet, I just stained the concrete... Highly recommended.
  13. Home Depot has them. You only need the small ones and they do the trick just fine.
  14. Rare earth magnets retain hooks better. I have had the magnet tape before, but it seems like anything size 6 or larger won't stay put.
  15. El Sculpito, Belly Scratcher Minnow, and Low Fat Minnow would be killer
  16. Yep. Is it a tangible object (vise) or a bad habit (vice)?
  17. Hey... Watch what you say. I might get offended and post 1,497 times about it.
  18. Curtis and I both tie on the channel. That's me tying;) Curtis is the pretty face, Cheech is the brains...or do I have it backwards? Curtis is absolutely the brains. I'm the artist/hand model. We both tie on the channel.
  19. Here's an idea... Don't ask for feedback. If people give feedback you can either decide to take it or not. If you want only people with experience to give you feedback, then maybe shoot them a personal message or something. OR. You can take every single thing personally like you have done in many o' thread so far. I didn't even realize what exactly was said about the beard until now, but you read waaaaaaay too far into that one. Mike is blunt, but thus far I don't think he's an A-hole. When I ask for feedback on flies, I find people that will actually criticize it and tell me what needs to change other than someone who will just sing praises. If it sucks, I need to know. If I want to feel good about myself, I give flies to my mom. She will never say anything mean about them.
  20. I really like the Apex. I don't love the Atlas. The notches in the jaw are at a weird angle. The notches really work for the Apex because you can also change the angle of the head. Not so on the Atlas. Hard to explain on the interwebs, but you'll see when you get it.
  21. Curtis and I both tie on the channel. That's me tying;)
  22. Oh brother. Pity parties aren't going to get you anywhere man. SMH -> http://bfy.tw/5xxL
  23. And darn proud of it !!! Actually, I've broken down a couple of times. While in Illinois, I was going to a tying night at Dupage Fly Fishing Co., I decided to buy a spool. So, I now have one orange and one black spool. You better stand down!!! This could get out of control.
