I tied this inspired by David Nelson's flies.

I like steelhead and spey flies. I dont fish with them only because there are no steelheads and very few atlantic salmon in our rivers.
I used spey flies in Mongolia. Natural colors were ok. I hope that in short time I will go for steelhead. Canada I think.

tag - flat gold
tail - unknown pheasant a'la tippet feather - beige with brown/black tips
body - hare's ear ribbed flat gold tinsel
hackle - dark pheasant hen body feather
wing- grizzly hen with some brown color ( India hen) ... may be cree

They are all most excellent pattern books for use on the tying bench. The other titles in the series are "Shrimp & Spey Flies", Featherwing and Hackle Flies, and Complete Flies - which is simply all the flies he had patterns for that he didn't get in the other three volumes.I"m sorry. Halcyon, you wrote about other two books. Thank you.
