  6. Hey all, i have been on and off the site for a while when i realize i havent introduced myself. First i would like to say i have learned alot reading through the forums.. thanks to you all. I'm 22 years old, I live in Canada, Ontario... I have been tying since i was 14, I have sold to shops on and off. This is the 1st fly tying site i have joined and im looking forward to joining a swap soon, maybe hosting one when i learn enough about them... Anyways thanks for reading this and keep doing what your doing
  7. I was looking through some flys on a few radom sites for idea's, when i found this fly called the bandit. Its made of a rubber band...most simple pattern, elastic band tyed as the tail and some flash tyed over as the body an lead eye so you get that dive, anyone ever tied or used one? Anyways though it was an intresting idea wanted to share that with you's...
  8. I've heard it called flashabou, just about the same thing as krystal flash. Thats my guess anyways.. if you cant find it you can use this as a substitute, spins surprizingly well LOL this smiley has nothing to do with what i just said, i just wanted to throw it in there..
  9. I like to tye on an 18.. the more detail the more i enjoy it.. parachute especially with that extended body... nice

  12. Atratus, in my experience its all about the red tag... sets any bass off, i use usually add a red throat, beard or you can tag the tail.. give that a try and good luck

LOL.. i did make that sound more complicated than it should have been, your right alot of good tyers with alot of good answers..
  15. My first vice cost $80, I'm still using it, never had a problem with it. Where you want to put the money into is the tools.. especially, and look through the books before you decide on one, find one you could read more than once.. i own about 5 i dont take off the shelf anymore..
  16. Nice fly, full bodied, universal colour and i will usually make the tail a lil longer than its suppose to be.. did you tye the hackle bottom first... ?
  17. The colour usually depends on the lake.. an season, i have always caught a few smallies on the muddler myself... where are you plannin on fishin for them... ?
  18. Mahaney, is this $200 just for a vice an tools... or are you going to grab basic materials aswell... ?
  19. Well I'm gonna be the first to say i prefer cats all the way.. very distintive personalities... I have a manx
  20. Hey mahaney, i bought a small jet for my fish tank... i dont have any fish in it.. but i do use it to test the float on dry flys, the action of the buggers an the dive of the nymphs... you'd be surprized.. you get alot of ideas for new materials an styles ... helps me Jake

    LM Hair Bug

Schiffs... i just tried it with the wire tyed in at the back an pulled out of the way of you tying the rest(hook up) when your done cutting, pull the wire back up counter balencing the hook an tye off at the eye, paint it.. you can match the hair on your bug this way an it floats alot nicer.. then puttin the wire in the tail, make sure the wire is not touching the hair...

    LM Hair Bug

Hey schiffs, no problem.. the balsa bug is worth a try, as for the deer hair, i just tied one that floats hook up.. i just added a piece of copper wire(bent opposite to the hook) i cut the bug upside down.. paint the wire the same colour as the hair in the tail.. the tail end sinks but that shouldnt be a problem if your plannin on fishing it fast...
