Yeah transporting animals can be tricky. If you check out www.taxidermy.net, you can find some information on it. As long as the animals are given away (and not endangered animals) then it is ok. I've shipped and recieved whole frozen animals...wrapped in insulation before. If you want to trade out on something sometime, let me know. That is an awesome looking squirrel! Thanks, Richard

Is that a black head on that squirrel?? If so, it could fetch a few dollars whole...have you skinned it yet?? I'd be willing to trade a couple squirrels that I have for it as well as maybe some other materials if you still have it whole. (I do a little bit of taxidermy stuff also...this looks like he would make a cool mount)

It's nice to see that the forum is getting fired back up for the winter. I know that the summer and warm weather have kept me away from my computer quite a bit and I'm looking forward to hearing about everyone's experiences and seeing all of the new pattern you have all come up with. It looks like I dropped the ball this year and was unable to get anything tied up for FTOTY....I agree with the post from one of the other threads...I think the deadline may need to be pushed until january in order to evade the holidays... It seems as though I get most of my tying done November - April or so... Anyways, Hope everyone's summer was a good one... -Arkfisher

I've been trying to get time to work on this as well....I sat down a couple of days ago and tied for a few hours, but I just don't feel confident enough as of yet to send anything in. I'm gonna keep working on it for the next few days though...hopefully I'll get a little better. The only area that I felt very comfortable with was the itsy bitsy and I'm down to only 5 #30 hooks left...and the fly shop is out!!! I'll have to tie at least that many to get back into the hang of tying that small.

Phil, I have about 6 or 7 of the Collin's Hackles. I believe that the saddles that are sent with them come from the same bird that the neck came from. In my experience, these saddles are in great condition. I believe that one out of the 6 or 7 that I have may be a #2 saddle, however it is still a great value. I will definately buy from them again. Just my 2 cents Richard

Well guys, I've changed tying stations. You may remember my old post with my station that I built...(first picture) and I hated to get rid of it...I still have it, it's just not in commission right now. I ran across this desk at an estate auction and got it for 30$ so I couldn't pass it up. I think overall it's better. It's bigger and more room to store stuff for the most part. I still have a large storage box in the closet that I have to roll out when tying though. Hope you all enjoy the new pics. I'm ready to get started up tying again after my exam tomorrow evening. -arkfisher

I have purchased a lot of fly tying materials...I've been tying just over a year now and my tying supplies are worth more than 2000$...I guess it's a good thing that I'm not married Anyway, The biggest part of my stuff I bought on ebay. I only had trouble with that one time and paypal did refund my money. I bought a large lot on ebay for 350 and after I did the calculation, there was more than 1200$ worth of stuff in it...thread, collins hackles, bobbins, scissors, flash, fur, etc...etc... I would warn you to be careful when using ebay though. I only buy from established sellers 50 or more on their feedback. The rest of my tying supplies I got from the local shop. Since yours is closing, I would say that J. Stockard is an excellent site...also I have a couple of hackles that I got from Cabela's that I was pretty impressed with. Hope this info helps! -arkfisher

I use a piece of tippet... Put the tippet through the eye then apply your cement. You can move the tippet back and forth through the eye while the cement starts to set up. Then, simply remove the tippet. Hope this helps

Maybe not enought hackle around the chute or the chute could be too large or too long. Pictures would help a lot.

Well, I still havent' recieved a response from Masterbass on this one yet. I kept his flies incase his arrive at my door this week. Then I'll send his fly out to each of you. Your flies are in my mailbox ready to be picked up tomorrow :yahoo: Like I said before, I'm pretty impressed with the workmanship in these flies. I was going to add them as attachments, but personally, I hate clicking on each one to see it so I'm adding full photos. Hope you all enjoy!!! I'd like to get in this one, but my whole month of june is WAYYYY too busy to do a swap. Maybe next time. I guess that's what I get for going to grad school! haha :wallbash: but I guess it will pay off someday

Well...I've have 9 of 10 sets now...I've not heard from the swapper whose flies I haven't recieved yet. I think that I will get these around and send them out tomorrow afternoon...I'll hope that his comes in tomorrow in the mail. It's already a week later than I'd hoped to send them out. I'll take pictures tomorrow morning and get them posted. Some really good looking flies in this one. I think it's one of the best if not the best swap that I've seen!! Thanks to all who participated!! -arkfisher

I'd definately have a few zebra midges, probably in black/copper, red/copper, and olive/silver

Well guys...still waiting on 2 sets. One set was sent out today priority so hopefully it will be here soon. I'll keep you all posted and definately post some pics when they all get to me. I'll get them out ASAP!

Josh, You may look up a how to on a crazydad pattern. They're a pretty quick tie. I've caught several fish on them. Here is a pic of a few that I tied. I may put up a step by step sometime if things slow down around here.

Well...I'm still waiting on 2 sets of flies. They should be in the mail, so hopefully I'll get them tomorrow. These are some good lookin flies!

I use the fishpond coyote bag...I know it's expensive, but if you ever used one, you'd know it is worth it. If you don't want to spend that much, I'd probably get a large tackle box and several small containers like altoid cans, small plastic lure boxes, etc...
-
Well, I'm still waiting on 5 sets of flies to arrive, but I expect them to be here tomorrow or monday. If all goes as planned, I'll photograph all of the flies on monday and get them in the mail first thing tuesday! There are some great looking flies in this one..I think you'll all be happy with them. Thanks to all the tiers!!

:yahoo: sweet!!! :headbang: I saw some HUGE 20+ lb carp the other day, but they're in a stream that is private and can't be fished I'm looking to hook my first one. Great catches man...keep it up!!! I love seeing the pics

The body is all thread, and I coated it lightly with some flex coat for durability.

No particular reason for the biots, just what I had and I wanted a sparse tail. I started to tie these with a magnifying glass, but it got in the way, so I just tied them without. I do have a pair of glasses for tying that I use occasionally though. Glad you guys enjoyed this one. Hopefully I'll have more to come.

Here's another picture to put the size a little more into perspective. Hope ya'll enjoy!
