Great! I'll keep my eyes open for them  !! Here is a picture of what you'll be getting from me. They're pretty small...hahahah Enjoy!

I'm not super sure about this, but I can tell you what I would do. I figure that any of the leg material that you have is probably rubber and this could definately melt in the summer time...plus you run the risk of critters getting in your materials. This can be avoided by throwing a few moth balls around...but can also cause your materials to stink. I would put them in a rubbermaid container and store inside in the closet or something like that. The only concern that I have with the tools is the humidity level..I'm in NW arkansas and the humidity gets to be horrible here. That can cause your tools to rust. IMO, I think it is best that you keep everything in a somewhat "controlled" enviornment just to avoid these complications. Hope this helps. What do you other guys think?

It seems as though this method that you posted must have has come crack attached to it...it's addictive!! -
:hyst: Good stuff ya'll. I just recieved flies from Floyd, he tagged them normally...and used a size 24 hook. I'm wondering how I'm going to tag these sz 30's! haha...Im sure I'll figure out something...I may have to put a little piece of tippet through the eye and tape it to a tag...

I'd like to do this one, but not my area of expertise. I'm sure looking forward to seeing the pictures though!

I've tied several "originals" that I use, a lot of them I share, some I'm afraid I'll get laughed off the message board cause they look so crasy...haha. I agree with smalliehunter...if you don't want others to tie it, don't show it to anyone...and heaven forbid that you lose one in the creek and some unsuspecting fly fisherman comes aross it downstream  Personally, if someone wants to tie one of the flies that I've submitted to the database, I'd be flattered! Take for instance sniksoh.. He put his version of a foam bass popper on here a few weeks ago and that post lit up like a christmas tree because everyone liked it and wanted to learn the technique that he used. He could have easily kept that to himself, but because of him wanting to share his creation with us, we are all gonna catch more fish this year! I've even submitted a couple of variations of his method to the database and named them after him. I hope I did them justice!

I have a good friend who is a researcher at another university and works hand in hand with the Arkansas game and fish commission. He has collected several birds that he cotton stuffed for some research that he was working on there. He had permits to collect these birds, and he's finished with them now. I was curious as to the legality of using these feathers now since they were collected legally. These birds include a few native hawks large and small and some jays and worblers. I probably know the answer without asking, but I'm curious. I obviously don't plan on selling the flies. However, I know I would like to fish a couple of them. Thanks! -R

Well guys, I guess I was the culprit. I just checked my mail and the package made it all the way to Oregon, but for some reason was returned to me. :dunno: It got back here yesterday. I am unsure what happened...I just rechecked the address, and it's the same as the one that was PM'd to me. I am truly sorry about this guys. If you'll all PM me your addresses, I'll make sure you all recieve the fly that I tied..and I'll expect none in return. I just want to try to make this right. Sorry everyone was waiting. -Richard

I've never messed with balsa. I could only imagine that painting it could turn into a nightmare. I figured that stacking the foam like this would give a nice look. I think I"m going to work some more with this next week to get some diagonal patterns and maybe even some mixtures...gonna get CRAZY!!! hahahah I've also thought (after the fact) that if I had used some feathers on the back similar to a deer hair popper, it would "kick" a little more like legs. Anyways, I'm glad you guys enjoyed it, and I look forward to seeing some variations posted soon!!

I wish I knew where to get some more of those eyes myself! I bought a huge lot of stuff on ebay a while back and had about 100 of these eyes in it. I can't seem to find them anywhere else. I emailed the guy and he said that he bought them on ebay. He said the guy lists them once a month or so. I'm keeping my eyes open for some more.

You're right dsaavedra! I just glued these together lengthwise and shaped them like that. Then I coated it with about 5 coats of "hard as nails" Pretty easy to make. I'm goin to play with color schemes a little bit more and get some other patterns worked out.

I was wondering if anyone here could help me.... I am looking for a trout fishing or fly tying print to hang in my new place, but the catch is I need one that is black and white. If anyone has any information on where I might find one, please let me know. I have googled this and come up pretty much empty handed. Thanks guys! Richard

I've had luck with all of the above! I recommend tying up a few of each to have on hand. Also, there's a saying that I've heard a few times.... "IF IT AIN'T CHARTRUSE, IT AIN'T NO USE!!!"

I love the way you put that step-by-step together. It looks great!!
