Fishpond Coyote Fly Tying Travel Case...
arkfisher replied to arkfisher's topic in The Fly Tying Bench
Well guys, I bit the bullet and went ahead and bought the coyote. The local fly shop had both the coyote and the william joseph bag in stock. The william joseph was no comparison to the coyote and it's a lot bigger than it looks on the web. I've been packing it up tonight and I actually have more room than I need...I love it, and their warranty looks to be really good as well. Thanks for the input guys! Richard -
Hey guys, This board has been awesome...I've only been a fly fisher for about 6 months now and only tying for 3 or so... I'd like to ask some advice. I live in northwest Arkansas and I am in graduate school. My spring break is from March 19-23 and I would like to take a trip somewhere to fish. I'm pretty open to what, where, etc... I'd really like to fish for some peacock bass, or some saltwater fishing in the gulf or atlantic side of FL. Where would you recommend? What species would be best to fish for at this time? I'll be driving, so I dont' want to drive more than 15 hours TOPS! one way...but of course, if the fishing is good.....who know.. Thanks guys, Richard

Finished mine today. I'll have them in the mail as soon as I get the address.

Hey guys, I'm looking at doing a 10 day float/camp/fish trip on the upper Missouri river in Montana in June and I had a couple of questions. First, has anyone fished this river? What do you know about it? Also, I will definately be taking my vice and a few things along with me. I have been looking for a good travel bag for my stuff. I have a renzetti travel vice. Does anyone out there use the Fishpond Coyote? I looked at it at the local fly shop yesterday and I think it looks great, but it's pretty expensive. Here is a link to it for you to look at. http://www.fishpondusa.com/coyote.cfm Thanks, Richard

I've just been invited on a 10 day canoeing/camping/fishing trip on the upper missouri river in Montana around the first of June. I was wondering if anyone fishes that river or knows much about it before I totally commit to going. Thanks guys, Richard

I'm really surprised that no one else has joined this one....

Any restrictions on the type of fly? I have a pretty good smally pattern that I came up with that I call the PCB ( piney creek bi*ch ) it's doing pretty well with the smallies around here. If that'll work, count me in...and April will be a great due time. Richard

Blue Mallard Wing or Blue Peacock Body Feathers
arkfisher replied to breambuster's topic in The Fly Tying Bench
Breambuster, The hunt didn't go as well as I would have liked today, but I did get 2 mallards and 2 wood ducks. I'm going to keep the woodie feathers for my stuff on these 2 birds, but I don't need the mallards. There is one drake and one hen. I would send you the whole wings if you'd like, or if you just need the blue feathers, I can send those to you. I'll be hunting the rest of the week and probably next. (luckily school doesn't start back for me until the 16) So there is a good chance that I'll have some more. Let me know, Richard a.k.a. arkfisher -
Hey guys, Thanks for all of the comments. I turned the posts out of a couple of old pieces of firewood that I had then I cut the knotches with a table saw and had to use a hand chizel a little bit to get the larger pieces to fit well. You're mostly right flytyingscotsman, due to expense, I didn't use all solid oak. I used pine 1x8 lumber to construct the shelf part, then I wrapped it with 1/4" oak plywood. It's pretty inexpensive at the local lowes hardware store. Harold Ray, Thanks for the complement. I've worked with and learned a lot about woodworking from my dad, he's a carpenter. I'm 25 now and in graduate school for chemistry. As far as the dimensions: The base is 18" X 36" and the cabinet is 36" tall and about 8" deep. I came home for the holidays and built this, and like any normal fly fisher....I had to bring all of my tying stuff home with me so I could tie for the deer hair swap..haha, so I just had to put some things in it to take a picture or 3. I'm not sure if all of my stuff will fit in it so I'll definately keep the rubbermaid containers around. Thanks again guys!!

The wood posts were actually some that I turned myself for this project. I cut out the wedge to fit them on the outside...and I noticed that the wedge would work well on the inside corner to provide a place for my thread and such. Thanks!

If you're still needing some mallard wing feathers...I"m hitting the duck hole in the morning. I have plenty for myself. Hopefully we'll limit out on Greenheads tomorrow. -

Hey everyone. I just thought that I'd make a post to show everyone my new tying station that I built. :yahoo: I'm pretty proud of it... I just got into tying about 4 months ago, and I'm addicted!!! I've been home the past couple weeks for christmas break so I thought I'd do a little wood working and this is what I came up with. I bought all of the materials at Lowes and I spent about 85$ total on the project. I thought it was pretty reasonable. ArkFisher "catch and release...zero limit"

I am fairly new to the forum and to tying. I would like to host a swap eventually, but I have to participate in 3 first. I keep checking the board, but I haven't been able to get into one yet. I would like to get into a deer hair swap, if anyone is interested in hosting one. Thanks, RAS
