  14. Hey D, There are a number of bugs but the worst is moth larva they will eat through most flies and materials. Moth balls work good but if you know exactly where they are you can freeze them. I have had problems with moths in the past and they ruined many of my flies and materials. I used moth balls and when I thought they were gone I repackaged all my materials in zip locks. kt
  15. Hi guys, That fish is indeed broodstock what happened was a fish farm on that lake had been damaged from ice flows and the fish escaped. Since then fish of that magnatude have been caught in that area. These are not wild fish but they have been caught in the wild. I got this from a fellow who lived there. cheers kt
  16. Hi, I went to value village and picked up a $5 B/Q MOTOR make sure you get one that rotates quietly. I mounted mine on a pc of 2x4. kt
  17. Gregg, As the guys said the 2457 TMC/ 2487 TMC are excellent hook it depends on what you are after and the diameter of the hole size of the bead. There are other hooks that might help starting with the 2499 SP BL which has become popular in my area and if you want a longer profile we use a 2302 TMC. KT
  18. Hey D, I will pm you a new addy. kt
  19. Hi, I sent my flies awhile ago when we talked postal stuff. Hope you get them soon kt
  20. Hi, I have tied on the Nor-vise, Barracuda, and Stenzil. Each of the vises have good qualities. The Nor-vise can do all the video says, but the jaws do have problems with small flies, and I found that the space between the jaws and turning drum are short, hence you have to use shorter pcs of ribbing. The Barracuda is quite good, but I tie so many flies and the jaws seem to be delicate, so I had midges jaws grooved for smaller hooks, but the bearing system is second to none. I have tied close to 10,000 flies on it. The Stenzil has the loop jaw and it holds hooks like no other, but I have found from the jaws to the handle is abit short and it doesnt have the bearing system the barracuda does. I have all three and I probly use my norlander the least. Having said that 95% of the time I use norlander automatic bobbins and the other 5% I use the eckich bobbin. hope this helps kt
  21. Hi, If they are just tail feathers freezing should kill the bugs that what I do. If you have clumps salt the clump til its dry; then I make a paste using borax and water and wipe it on any skin portion. I don't wash the feathers unless they are dirty. Make sure you don't put the paste on to thick. kt
  22. I use a vise mounted backing plate on each of my vises. I have one with blue and one with white; I prefer the blue one less glare. kt
  23. J, When you wrap move the wire left to right as if you are moving the hackle out of the way with the wire. Be sure that you have not palmered the hackle to close together or you could have problems. The wire size does not matter it has to go into the same space, but be sure the wire is going the opposite way of the hackle. kt
  24. This is cool, Im one of the many that does not know if I can wait. I can't remember a time when I looked forward to getting flies. This adds to the pleasure of being a member of FTF. I would like to say good job to all members who participate and a excellent job to those who run and keep it going. Im proud to be a member kt :headbang: :yahoo:
