  1. ooo i understand what you mean about the cylinder. that could be tough. could you possibly spin the material like deer hair? probably not. well then you could make it a two piece and just connect a tail piece to the second hook.
  2. can anyone give me a link to a good step by step tutorial for tying EP flies? ive looked around and i kinda get the idea, but not so great....any help would be appreciated.
  3. the head looks nice, but it needs more. try tying on a loop of 30 pound test braided line to the first hook and through the eye of the next hook. that way it provides a good strong joint. 3 segments on this fly would look very nice!
  4. this sucks. i hope he gets back to us...
  5. great to have ya back in this one luvin!
  6. ok thanks don. where can i get this ultra suede? and riffle, thats what i was goin for, the walking motion, that way if a fish saw it they wouldnt think it was threatening and would eat it. but what about snags?
  7. looks like he glued foam discs together to make a foam cylinder and then shaped it on a dremel tool and then coated it in glitter epoxy. commonly refered to here as snikky style.
  8. whats that made out of anyway? it looks like you shaved a deer hide or something like that??? i'd like to get a recipe or possible set of instructions for that!
  9. great googly moogly! that fly is kick ass! cant wait to get one. do you guys think its a problem that my fly is tied claws first hook down? (i dont tie craws very often :dunno: )
  10. looks like a good batch. hope the bass think the same!
  11. great job! this one screams "BASS!" not "blob" im with J here about trimmin it closer and def. gotta glue on some googly eyes, they look better, less trouble, and they add shine and even rattle. you did a good job stacking hair. i dont like to stack.
  12. i sent out my flies this morning at about 1:00PM.
  13. thats a good idea about the tea tho! i'll have to try that.
  14. well i made my own version cuz i forgot how you tied yours and i used foam for the claws and the rest of it. just one big piece. i had a problem w/ the thing standing straight up cuzza the big foam claws. i still have some modding to do....
  15. hey nomad, you never included yourself on the list. if you include yourself then doesnt that make this swap full?
  16. yea...it does. that could be a problem huh? you could always change that around if you decide to. maybe its a good thing cuz maybe if you crawls it slow on the bottom a fishie will think it doesnt look threatening at all and just gobble it up
  17. hahaha! well since you choose to keep Blobby Blob Blob a blob maybe you would want to trim the bottom flat, this gives it more stability on the water possibly resulting in better hookups. just a thought :dunno:
  18. LOL! yea i'm gonna go try it now. i also dont have the right colored bunny strip for the claws all i have is chinchilla and black. i'll have to come up w/ something else for claws. any ideas?
  19. not bad looking. but it doesnt scream "MOUSE" to me. kinda screems "blob" lol! what could help you significantly is putting some kind of head on that thing! ya know w/ some leather ears and bead eyes. you dont have to stack the eyes like you said....that just sounds like trouble i find its easier to just glue on two beads. the spinning and packing looks excellent though! i really like the looks of a MouseRat, with the untrimmed hair tip back and the flat trimmed bottom. that looks more like a mouse to me than the all trimmed kind. but the mouserat is harder to tie. those are nice first ones but ya gotta get eyes and ears on them bad boys!!! hope ya dont mind the constructive critiscism. MouseRat:
  20. cool fly. i too had to resort to makin my own up cuz i dont like alot of the other existing patterns. yours is nice but it might look better if you tapered the body so its thicker at the front. just a thought.
  21. A new addition to the fly pattern database has been submitted by dsaavedra: Camo Craw
  22. i got the addy. i'll try to send them as soon as i can get to it.
  23. now theres a nice fly! i'd like to tie some of those but i dont have any of that egg yarn. it looks like i could use furry foam but i dont have any of that either....do you think if i layed a good lead base that would sink a 2mm craft foam body?
