  1. yeah i plan on putting more minnow in there. i made a minnow net today from a coathanger, a broom handle, some zip ties, and a mesh material (got it from the packaging of those ice pop things) i just opend up the coathanger and formed a ring and then stapeled the mesh around it and straightened out the hook part and the opposite end adn then zip tied it to the handle. looks like crap but will work well for when i dont feel like waiting for them to go in the trap...i can just sit this on the creek bottom, put some crumbs on top, when the minows check it out, skoop them up.
  2. if and when i use headcement (not often) ill use superglue. love the stuff! goes on smooth and really hardens the thread and gives a nice finish.
  3. o and we put in 82 blacknose dace in there today also.....i put a minnow trap in my creek yesterday w/ some crab dip and crackers and pulled in a full pot this morning. slapped em in a coffee can and drove em down to the pond. it was hilarious because the minnows were oxygen deprived (82 in one can gets a lil crowded) so they were puddlin around at the waters sufrace (where oxygen levels are the highest...all fish seem to do this...the gills did it when we first put em in). then all the gills came over to check out what was goin on and they started chasin the minnows around...not predatory or anything, they werent really sure what to do w/ the new company!!! :hyst:
  4. no i havent been down there w/ a flyrod lately. i caught one w/ bread today. but it seems restocking the fish did the trick cuz they are at least biting now.
  5. well youve accomplished something there....how the heck did you spin bucktail!?!?? :dunno: that could turn out nicely...i'd change the colors to a more natural scheme but if the action works then that will be deadly.
  6. thats a very nice panfish and bass fly. i wish you would include a materials list and instructions though
  7. yeah came here this morning to ask the same thing....cause im just gonna tie nine, as it seems there are only 10 people in this swap.
  8. thats really nice man! how exactly do you tie flies like that????
  9. ok that makes sense. so how did you get it so that only the tips were showing? did you just spin the tip end of the hair and tie over the butts?
  10. looks alot like a whits mouse rat only not trimmed on the bottom....how well does it sit on the water? it seems like it may roll over because its not flat underneath.
  11. :hyst: im in the same situation, cuz im not the greatest caster on a fly rod, and i know that that fly will catch fish, my rod, or me!!!!
  12. yes JZ, that pic is my fly. its similar to the gulley worm only its 14inches long and its meant to float like a snake. also, the foam head is at the front, instead of the tail like it is on a gulley worm.
  13. yesh i keep meaning to put in a weedguard, but i forget. and yes i am tying the boa on the first hook behind the head. and i never thought to put the mono in the furl.....i suppose that could work....o and the hooks are the biggest size of stingers that you sent me
  14. nah i dont like to use epoxy cuz i dont have alot, its messy, and i can never get it on even cuz i dont have a drying weel. i could try leather.......but that would be a b*tch to cast!!!! :ripped: and i dont have leather.
  15. well thats good cuz ive already got two muddlers done! :help: :help: a tip ive encountered: never try to trim deer hair w/ a dull razor. i was using a razor that could still cut newspaper with ease, but wouldnt cut the deer hair with the precision needed. i switched to a fresh razor and it cuz thru it like it was water! so always use a sharp razor!!! :help: :help:
  16. paul....would it be too late for me to change my pattern? cuz when you said marabou muddler, i went and checked it out, and i have more suitable materials and hook (mainly i have the right sized hooks) to make the muddler instead of the letort hopper. i hope your cool with my change!
  17. hey paul!!!!!! i got the hair today!!! excellent! thanks a bunch. im gonna go get started on those hoppers as soon as i check my email! :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :yahoo:
  18. so im takin it as you made one and fished it? thats great! how big was it? how did it cast? thats cool that you actualy made one and tried it though. i have no idea how im gonna cast it....i'd like to be able to use it on spinning gear....anyone have any ideas as to how i could do this???
  19. thats the thing....i have no idea how im gonna cast that thing on my 5/6 wt rod. i wonder how i could use it on spinning gear....any suggestions???? :dunno:
  20. o well it doesnt show up here, but if you click it, it shows up in the database.
  21. i changed the display pic for it to the brown one, but for some reason its not showin up.... ill try and fix it.
  22. yea that ones pretty dumb lookin cuz i only furled it once...but i made a brown one that i double furled and it looks alot nicer. maybe ill put pics up later. idk how im gonna cast that thing tho.
  23. A new addition to the fly pattern database has been submitted by dsaavedra: Boa Boa
