-
ok zippy, i sent you an email!
-
thanks panflyfisher! ill definitley try that. and yes these fish are getting way smart. theyve learned where we fish, what we fish, and how we fish. theyve even moved to the other half of the pond where we cant access yet (till we clear the path)

when you say "testers" do you mean you will send them for ppl to test, or do they have to buy them. cuz i will GLADLY test that one out for ya, but i dont have money if you mean you want ppl to buy them. looks like it will be great for largemouths. whats its made out of and hows it fish? PM me if you want to send me one to test.

ok thanks guys. i will make them on smaller hooks, less stuff hangin off, and ill try some new stuff. i went down there today using a small trebel hook with dough on it adn worm and i only caught ONE fish!!! im starting to wonder if all the fish died due to lack of food or sumthin. cuz they sure arent bitin as much as when i first put them in.
-
yeah i created a bread fly a while back! it used to work, but they have learned not to bite it now. they are on the smaller side, and i'll make some smaller flies to accomadate them. and i do need to make some stuff they never seen. thanks guys! and i dont think they are exactly "missing" i think most times they are just peckin at it to see what it is. but sometimes the larger ones do actualy come out of the water for it, but they do truely miss. thanks for all the help guys!

ok. so the pond in the woods that i fish now has 40 some bluegills in it. well my friend that i fish with down there always SMOKES me down there. i dont mind cuz i use artificial stuff (lures and flies) but he uses bread. so its a givin he will catch more. but still.....i cant even catch bluegill down there on a foam spider! thats like the ultimate gill fly...but they'll hit it and wont take it. what is goin wrong!?!?!? about the pond: the water is BLACK and there are red weeds and green scum under water. sand bottom. shallow (deepest is like 4.5') PLENTY of sticks and logs underwater. also a goooooood supply of critters scootin' about underwater. a whole poo-load of bugs flyin above the water and dabblin around on there. so what flies should i use?

i never knew the magic of the foam spider with two rubber legs on each side till today. I WAS TEARIN SOME GILLS UP WIT DAT MAN!!!! that may just be my new go to pattern for bluegills.
-
yer stone looks cool. very easy and real looking. what is that a clipped-to-shape piece of black chamois?
-
wow! way to go emilee!!!! i really like that pattern i might give it a try.
-
how did you get the legs to stick straight down like that?
-

okie dokie!

i tried fishin with a disco minnow for a bit, but i just cant get the distance needed for me to do any real fishing with it. i can only cast like 12 feet. thats why i dont fly fish wit much of anything.
-
very nice...looks like a good tie. bet the spawners will tear that up (bluegills)
-
yeah she was spawnin. heres another pic where you can see the anal cavity thing pokin out and its all red:
-
i colored that one dark green on top, then chartruse on the sides then yellow underneath, with some orange in the chest. then i put the black vertical bars on. i did it all with sharpie. normally that was just straight silver, but i like to color them
-
o yeah it did!!! see i like to keep my drag light for the smaller fish i usually catch but when i go to places w/ big fish i tighten it just in case, adn it was still tightend from the last time i went to a big bass farm pond, and this fish today was PULLIN THAT DRAG LIKE NOTHIN!!!! there was a drainage pipe underwater right there too and i was so scared she was gonna go in it and cut my line!!!!!! i was so HAPPY when i landed her :yahoo:

hey guys, i caught this monster bass (6lbs 4oz) today. its my biggest bass by far. i didnt catch it on a fly though, i caught it on a rapala. just thought i'd show you guys anyway!

i made a much better boa worm last night. its got about 4" of furled black boa yarn hanging off the hook with like 1" on the hook, then at the end of the black, i superglued a 3" section of unfurled purple boa yarn. o and when i furled the black, i didnt double it then tiwst it, i just twisted it when it was straight. it gave it a slimmer profile, which is what i wanted. when the tail is unfurled, its like a ribbon and dances around with the slightest movements. ill get a picture up later.
-
yeah i know what ya mean about the purple fadin from dark to light. well heres a pic of the purple/black fly i made. do you ever get short strikes on a 6" worm with just a single hook? thats why i made this one kinda short....i didnt want short strikes.
-
yeah i really love these yarn flies! they are so easy and awesome to make! i was casting my disco minnow on my 5/6wt fly rod like nothing. i just had an idea though...what if i made a long black chenille from boa yarn and made like a worm out of it, but then sprayed it throughly with a water repellant to make it float, then i'd have like a snake! im gonna try that and see how it does.
