  5. this does look like a helpful- functional product. i'd love to have one! right now i pull my tyin' station out- extending past the edge of my tyin' desk so that it is somewhat over my lap- it helps w/ the back thats for sure... thanks for sharing, ,

  8. another vote for the HMH! my first vise was a griffin 3arp- funky thing... then i got an HMH spartan- and for me- it was perfect- functional- yet simple- and made to last! i've been tyin' on the spartan for many years- and just got the HMH standard from JS during this vise sale they are having- i imagine this vise will last longer than i... one thing- the new spartan has changed a bit- black powder coated chasis, pedestal has no knob and lever is smaller i believe... still a great value. here is a link- http://hmhvises.com/spartan.html cheers, clarkii

(1) HMH Spartan Vise w/ bobbin holder, omni jaw, midge jaw, base, c-clamp, neoprine padded hmh carry case and original paperwork and boxes- like new. and im adding a brushed aluminum mckenzie vise light that matches the vise. (1) st. croix legend ultra 9' 4pc 4wt fly rod w/ tube. maybe used a half dozen times... excellent rod in excellent shape! (1) ross cimarron 2 reel- slate color- loaded w/ SA GPX line- willow color. matches the rod above perfect-and used the same # of times w/ that rod. reel is mint and the line is in perfect conditioin!
  10. Old Hat- a great tool indeed! Mitch owns/runs my small local fly shop in Albany, Oregon- nicest guy you could meet. to watch him tie w/ it is to understand just how many things the tool is capable of... rivers are droppin'!- , Clarkii

  13. i have to agree w/ hot tuna- Dave Hughes 'essential trout flies' is a great book to really get you going- you will learn how to tie a lot of very productive flies and gain the skills to move on to just about anything else you can find- after working throught he book- i suggest just moving on to the internet for new ideas. , R.

  21. started tyin' in 2000- so- goin' into my 8th year of tyin'.... learn something new everyt time i sit down to the vise- i feel very fortunate to have such a well rounded hobby in fly fishing and tying! , Clarkii.
