  1. Hey all, just a newbie in the fly tying world, building the skills set and techniques one fly at a time, experimenting with patterns for smallmouth that eat just about anything. Looking to meet and learn from others with similar afflictions. I have been hooked on fly fishing for a few years (wading and kayaking), and got bit by the tying bug within the past year as well. I fish NJ, NY, CT, PA and other locales when I need to reset to the natural rhythm of life.
  2. Which do you like best? My favourite is the toilet flushing! This article pretty much sums up both takes: http://flyfishing365.wordpress.com/2012/05/22/bass-poppers-porcelain-thrones-and-bowling-balls/
  3. Hey guys. Can't remember exactly when we did the surface water swap.... but I remember 2015 I caught a bunch of Australian salmon (kahawai) on the deerhair popper we got from it. Today... i had two of the poppers with me while I fished some virgining flood waters... thankfully I did too, because I happened onto a hot little surface bite on baby tarpon up to about 25 inches long (quite large for freshwater billabongs and creeks in these parts and great fun on the 2wt). Unfortunately I lost both to fish.... Thank you to the tiers!
  4. You blokes in the northern hemisphere must be out catching the last bit of the summer season.... Let me know when your tying season starts.
