  1. Hello everyone! Im a passionate fisherman and fly tyer. I enjoy both equally. I am catch and release only and try to encourage people to take care of our water and sport. I will go fishing anywhere anytime with anyone and have fun. Tight lines everyone!
  2. Good Afternoon, All, I signed up a few weeks and have been lurking for a bit. I like the forum and the members seems polite and well mannered and very willing to help. More about me. I actually started fly tying BEFORE I started fly fishing way back in the early 70s. Started with a Thompson vise that I still have, but I have retired it for a Renzetti that I really like. I bought that about 20 yrs ago when I started getting back in fly tying. I started fly fishing about 6 months after I started tying up in Connecticut. I have fished a great deal of the US and some of the world (Patigonia region of Argentina, UK, a bit in Ukraine). I have managed to catch quite a few species, but trout are my first love. Biggest US rainbow was caught on a size 20 zebra midge I tied. Ok, that is enough about me. Tell me about you if you are so inclined. Regards, Dale
  3. Wanted to introduce myself, my name is John and I live in the Pocono Mountains, in Pennsylvania. I have been a member for over a year, but never posted before. When joining the site I was thinking of tying flies but only thinking about it. Since then I have been tying jigs, trying to duplicate some flies on jigs. I have been keeping it very simple. I'm mainly a fresh water fisherman. At one time I concentrated on Largemouth bass, even pouring some of my own plastics, but nolonger. Mainly fish for panfish, mostly crappie, but also for trout and walleye. this year planning on some smallmouth. Purchased 2 Orvis rods, 5wt and 6wt, so I need to tie some flies. Should have done all this when I was younger but, better late than never. Hope I can learn and hopefully contribute to the site.
  4. I'm new to fly fishing and fly tying but grateful to be getting into this wonderful sport. I fish mostly trout as I am live pretty high up in the mountains Currently, I'm working on setting up my fly tying station. Any recommendations or how to find some threads about this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  5. I just found the forum. I live in Springfield Oregon, near the Willamette and McKenzie Rivers. Have lived here for the majority of my adult life. I grew up in Western Montana and still have a love for the state. Have been tying flies for over 40 years now (yes, I am one of those guys). I fish mostly in coastal rivers, Pacific Ocean and lakes here in the PNW. I do a lot of fishing from my boat, a Hewscraft. My wife and I have been married almost 46 years. I am a retired firefighter and served 30 years. Also did a hitch in the military and had the privilege of being in Vietnam 67-68. ha! Besides fishing my wife and I do a fair amount of traveling around in our Big Horn 5th wheel. I collect guns, primarily reproduction cap and ball retrievers however I pick up an original occasionally. Also dabble at collecting Sharps firearms and muzzle loading firearms. I have a fondness for flintlocks. Additionally I shoot weekly, cast bullets, reload etc. My bride and I have 2 children, boy/girl twins. They are grown. Our daughter has 3 children. The oldest will be 20 tomorrow! Boy how did that happen? Our son has two teenage daughters. I am looking forward to leaning a lot of information from you folks and maybe even contribute a bit myself. Terry Jack
