Nice fly,

I use a yarn color called 'swamp' for the tag.

Little rusty as its been a week or two since I sat in front of the vise, couple of IPA's didn't help.

Pheasant Tail Soft Hackle

IMG-20220402-065916b.jpg

Hook: curved caddis, #14

Thread: black,   70D

Thorax: 2 glass beads, black, 12/0, held in place with a thread base and drop of super glue.

Tail: hen pheasant tail

Rib: copper wire

Abdomen: hen pheasant tail, several fibers twisted into  a rope

Hackle: Chinese hen cape, 'Greenwell'

Rear thread tag was unintentional.  Need to minimize thread wraps between abdomen and thorax when tying off the rib.  Crowded the eye a bit, somehow broke the thread when tying off the hackle.  I think sometimes superglue can leave a rough edge if not applied neatly.

Cramer - This pattern was developed by a non-tyer by the name of Victor A. Cramer from Detroit, MI.  Victor was an avid outdoorsman and had a friend by the name of Paul Young who tied this design for Victor back in the late '30's to early '40's.  Though it was originally tied as shown feel free to change the color of the body/wing/tail and hook size to imitate a variety of hatches.

Cramer.thumb.jpg.06483a9ce47d00486fc10a53d8affcda.jpg

Hook - standard dry fly, 10-12

Thread - black

Tail -deer hair

Body -yellow wool yarn or dubbing

Wing - deer hair tied as a split, upright "V"
