Parachute fly. I couldn’t find my moose mane so I used moose body hair. Didn’t seem to be as durable as mane since I broke a few pieces before I was able to get it wrapped all the way. Tonight after my walk I’ll look around for the mane. The last time I used it a few years ago I must have put it somewhere very clever when I was done with it.

size 14 dry fly hook

thread - 70 ultra black

tail - Wood duck

body - Moose body hair 2 white 1 brown

thorax - peacock herl

post - poly yarn

Hackle - grizzly

Very generous of you sir! But I found it. It was in my traveling bag which I haven’t used since Covid shut down tying night. Tying night never recovered.

Bummer about tying night. I actually have about two mooses worth of main right now. People are always dropping stuff off. It's like when they know you are a knife maker, I come home and there's truck springs at my front door.

This fly was originated by Fenton Roskelley of Spokane Washington in 1960.

The concept of this fly is to imitate a damselfly nymph and other nymphs. This fly should be fished subsurface and deep, slightly above bottom

Weight - Lead free wire (optional)

Thread - Black

Tail - Red hackle fibers

Rib - Gold wire

Body - Rear 2/3 - Yellow Yarn or dubbing, Front third - Peacock herl

Hackle - Grizzly hen
