This series is dedicated to the late Tom Deschaine.  He was a biology teacher (retired), an avid fly fisherman and fly tyer, and a fly historian from the state of Michigan.  Thanks to his efforts he collected and tracked down the history of many Michigan-based dry flies and their designers.  If you want to refer to how these ties are SUPPOSED to look, please feel free to check out his site - Fly Patterns (michigandryflies.net).  Here are my interpretations.

Awsome - This is a nice imitation for a deer fly.  It is a variation of a pattern originally designed by Anne Schweigert and Clem Thompson in the 1950's called the Lake erie King.  This variation came about in the 1990's but the originator's name has been lost to time.

I love to tie and fish the classic trout stuff so when I found this little gem from 1676 on the web I had to tie a few.  It's still being tied and fished successfully in England.

Beel's March Brown - This pattern was developed by Paul Beel from Terra Haute, Indiana in 2013 to match the March Brown hatch on the Au Sable River in Michigan.  Paul is the founder of the Frankenfly Fly site.  It is best fished in the evening and is also a good bass fly as well.

Totally cool. Looks like it'll still be "a killing fly"
