Thanks. I'll be posting an sbs, maybe later today. I used the orange as tying silk, and tied the purple in at the back, yes. There are some other neat things about it too.

Hooks - MUSC53S, TMC200R, DIA 1270 or equivalent, sizes 6-12

Thread - Black

Tail - Barred teal barbs

Ribbing - Oval silver tinsel or wire over abdomen only

Abdomen - Dubbed with black lamb's wool

Wing case - Ringneck pheasant tail feather barbs tied over the thorax

Thorax - Dubbed with black lamb's wool

Legs - Barred teal barbs tied divided beard-style

Author states “This pattern was adapted from the Doctor Spratley steelhead/wet fly.”

Hanna's Royal Coachman - This is one of Ralph Hanna's earliest patterns that he designed in 1948 as an attractor.  He tied it as this variation of the Royal Coachman.

Tail - GP tippet fibers

Body - peacock, red yarn, peacock

Body Wing - dark deer hair, tied trude and extended beyond the curve of the hook

Throat Wing - white hen hackle tips, tied spent

Hackle - brown

Thorax: Black Ostrich Herl  (to prevent hackle collapse)

Hackle:  pheasant Marabou fluff wrapped (similar to tying a Posicle Steelhead fly)

 Hanna's White Miller - Designed by Ralph Hanna in the 1960's and designed for the White Miller hatch (Ephoron leukon).  The fly is to be fished in the late evening into darkness.

Body Wing - white deer hair, tied trude and beyond curve of the hook

NOTE:  Ralph liked to use the hair from the forehead of an antlerless deer due to its finest for this pattern.  I used yearling deer above.
