Followed immediately by someone else saying "Hold ma beer..."

Southern fairy tale is a story with a point or a moral.  Northern fairy tale is a silly story about how the North is somehow a paradise like Florida.

I've lived in both the North and the Deep South. Both have advantages and disadvantages: climate, opportunities and people. My father always said if he found the perfect place, everyone would want to move there.

I lived in what you might call the "shallow South" (Missouri) for my first 25 years, and have been in Michigan ever since. (Well, there was that year I lived in Cleveland, but I try not to think about that 😄) Even with our long and sometimes brutal winters, I have to say I prefer the climate here in the northern U.S. When I go back to MO now, I make sure it's not in summer, because I just can't hack that heat and humidity anymore, especially as I get older. The fishing is also exponentially better in Michigan. :)
