Cutt & Dry

Recommended Posts

Figure the dry fly fishing on the freestones is probably going to slow down soon so I head out for a few days; AQI is a bit on the unhealthy side

Set up camp; throw out the panel and  suck up as many photons as I can through the murk

Seriously tempted to grab the carp rod but it hasn’t been that cool and I have no desire to step on a rattler

On to fishing.  First time I came here 11 years ago this is what greeted me.

Foam is on the board

One more out of that run, then it on to the next hole; a half-hearted pass on the foam and then it shuts down

And a few more cutts

Never really hectic over the next few days, no bugs besides 1 yellow sally and a handful of hoppers, and fishing slows noticeably as the week goes on and temps go down, but who in their right mind could complain about being here?  Only run in I have with plus-sized quadrupeds is a Bullwinkle scat sighting

Scott thanks for posting this- that water is unbelievable, trout heaven!  It's really great to see what the fishing is like in other areas-  Montana?

Montana?

Yes; east of the Divide. Did not see one other fisherman the 4 days I was there.
