I agree but hard to source a limerick bend straight eye streamer hook, nowadays I have to choose limerick or straight eye.

That I understand. I don't remember the Mustad number at this point, but if it comes to me or I find some I'll let you know.

I lacquer the head (sally's) then use colored nail polish on a sharpened dowel rod to form the eyes. Going to try clear gorilla glue as a base for the next batch of heads then paint the eyes.

I have also dipped the head in Softex which works very well.

I agree the fish don't care...I was just pointing out what Mr. Fulsher preferred and used.

Do you fish Thunder Creek streamers on your favorite stream(s)?

I always just cut a toothpick in half - cut end for the eye and pointed end for the pupil.

Squeezy: We posted at the same time.  If you want it it's yours. As cphubert said, the fly doesn't have to be elaborate.  Look at the fly I proposed: https://youtu.be/VeejKV-0eDI

Go for it!  That’s a bit over my head- I may give it a try for fun

Ugly bugs them hellgrammites

When I was a kid we used to scour under the rocks to use them for bait, hook them under the collar and catch a lot of nice fish for the frying pan. I caught this one while fishing Vermont a few years ago while isolated.

If my memory serves me well...and as a footnote to the Thunder Creek flies...they were originally known as Carrie Stevens reverse tied bucktails.
