ROYAL WULFF
This is a fly I use quite a bit. I tie it in large sizes, 6-10, and use it for the dry fly in a dry/dropper set up.
This fly floats well with proper floatent , it tends to ride low in the water which I like for an attractor pattern.

This fly with a PT soft hackle dropper on the Firehole is my go to set up. Browns will hit this fly with reckless abandon.

Hook size 10 dry fly 2x long

tail - golden pheasant

body peacock hurl and red floss

wing calf tail

Furnace hackle.

👍  nicely done.  A 'Royal' anything is hard to beat sometimes. I keep a few of the various versions in my box.

That Royal Wulff is nicely done.  Should stay high and dry.   One of the best patterns to have in the box.  Especially in our local streams and rivers. Don't leave home without it.

Nice tie. I agree with everything said, funny how a pattern works everywhere. Definitely a must have in the fly box

Thanks all for the kind words.

My flys aren’t as well tied as most on this forum, but I do try, and most fish just fine. I had the opportunity to fish with (I had just met him on the river while fishing) a fairly well known fly fisherman and author , he actually put me onto this fly. Been fishing it  ever since then. I have been lucky to meet many great people on the rivers and riverbanks all over the west.

There is SERIOUS talent among tiers on this site, I enjoy seeing all the flys posted here. I also like reading the stories behind the flys, the “five w’s” if you will, of the tier’s experiences with the flys.

“ bugs and bourbon”  I LIKE IT!

Sounds better than “bugs and scotch”

That's a good one.  And on those day's when the fishing isn't that good it's "kvetch and release"

Good looking Humpy.  Tying one up and on in moderation I see or that Humpy probably wouldn't be so well made.

What Bourbon are we drinking at the "Bugs and Bourbon" tying night?  My brands of choice in order are Woodford Reserve, Buffalo Trace, and Elijah Craig.
