flytire 0 Report post Posted March 27 just watch charlie craven or davie mcphail tie one then decide if you can tie it or mike lawson if you can stand his voice (91) How to tie the No Hackle with Umpqua Signature tyer Mike Lawson - YouTube
Heff2 0 Report post Posted March 27 No hackle hook: sz 16 dry tail: grey microfibets thread: orange 30d nano silk body: BWO superfine wings: perfectly match duck quill slips hackle: none No doubt it will spin but it was by far the best one I tied and without my glasses it looks even better next challenge: a Hendrickson pattern or lifecycle for extra points. Gotta get ready for my local hatch and I’d like some ideas.

Heff2 0 Report post Posted March 27 Thanks Gentlemen. To be clear, as warned, this was a tricky tie. I started but trying to dub after the wing went, similar to how Charlie and Mike Lawson did did it in their videos. I soon started dubbing the body before the wing to avoid blowing them up trying to dub around. I'll tie a few more to fish but I'm not sure if I'll pursue perfecting this one, to Niveker's point, I had to walk away from it a few time to avoid breaking shit. I have a dozen matched quills and unless the fish are noticeably more interested in these I'll save them for other patterns. I look forward to Norm's Hendrickson
