Capt Bob LeMay 0 Report post Posted October 29, 2024 We all live in such different places... I love good barbecue but down here in paradise I'm much more likely to head to the nearest Cuban restaurant for some ropa viejia (spanish pot roast) with black beans and rice... Trying regional food is one of life's great pleasures and my favorite part of travel. My wife and I have a rule to never eat at a chain restaurant when traveling and specifically look for the family owned places that the locals like. I ate at some great Cuban restaurants while in Miami. They were Cuban owned and staffed and the food was as authentic as it gets. The food was wonderful! Capt Bob LeMay 0 Report post Posted November 1, 2024 ... and if I ate the Cuban food that I like every day... I'd be big as a house... I betting that some of my ancestors were good solid peasant types...

Waif super model types don't buy enough Kale salad to keep the doors open but fettuccine alfredo- now your talking!!

niveker 0 Report post Posted December 22, 2024 Single digits last night and tonight. Baking bread is the best way to chase the chill away - sourdough boule and discard loaves.
DFoster 0 Report post Posted December 23, 2024 Nice Kevin, sour dough is an art! That bread looks amazing! I think the first of the year single digit temps always feel the coldest. I was at my vise yesterday early morning. The smell of cinnamon French toast which my wife made for me, combined with the that of the wood stove. Suddenly everything seemed just right with the world. vicrider 0 Report post Posted December 23, 2024 Remembered to save the bone and leave some meat on this time and had forgotten how much I like split pea soup. Wife did a great job with it cooking I did a great job with it eating for a couple of days. Sorry I haven't been haunting this thread at all but will make up for it with binge reading. My daughter makes sour dough so from talking to her I know that much like fly tying there is a community out there that share their knowledge and trade cultures. I know from a health standpoint t's one of the best breads you can eat. Merry Christmas!
