yodafly 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2005 Theres a river by me that is stocked as a put and take fishery.Early in spring it has big browns and raimbows. Never seen any trout after the end of may.I was thinking if there where holdovers a hex hatch would gain thier interest. My question is about water temp. What ranges do can hex survive in. there are plenty of silt beds so thats not an issue.
Steeldrifter 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2005 Hex nymphs actually live in the silt banks for a couple years before they actually come out to hatch. The water temp here is about mid-high 60's right now on the au sable and the hex should begin showing up within a week or so. I wouldnt be too awful concerned about the temp, I would put on a hex nymph and see what you can turn up.
Redleg 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2005 Use to walk through them crossing the Red Cedar at Pennsylvania in Lansing headed to school. A lot of lake have hatches too. They're not just limited to the coldwater fisheries.
