Winter project

Recommended Posts

For the last 5-6 years I’ve been building musky lures in the winter and donating them to two youth programs in the state. The big ones have two 6/0 trebles and two blades. Each lure has a 10 and a 9. The smaller lures have one 4/0 treble hook and a 8 and 7 blades.

Nice work and worthy project, anything to get and keep a kid fishing, to many alternatives for them to go down the wrong road today.

This year I built 20 of each of the lures. They have a 6/0 treble hook in the rear and an eight Colorado and a 9 Indiana blade. There is a one ounce weight, so they will cast like a bullet. 30 go to the MN HS Musky championship and the other 30 go to our Chapter’s tournament. I got a couple of grants to cover the materials.

Very nice Tom.  Its been so long for anything but flies for me, what would something like this retail for?

Losing a $1 fly bugs me enough, but it would kill me to lose one of those.
