Guest Report post Posted June 23, 2005 The wife who is 30 is a Head Nurse in the E.R I'll be 34 in August I think Who keeps track Until 4 or 5 years ago I was a Union Carpenter Foreman that rough framed anything from houses to Hotels. We decided that I would stay home and raise our 5 kids until they were all in school insted of paying daycare $2,600-$2,800 a month. Funny thing is I was running a daycare watching over the carpenters + breaking my back for a dollar So I'm much happier here at home out of the weather year round and I get to hit the vise through out the day. During the winter I plow snow and do decks, additions, basements and such during the summer to fund my fishing trips and tying habits. I'm really gonna hate the day I go back to work full time, but until then I'm gonna ride this one out Brent

Fishyman 0 Report post Posted June 23, 2005 I'm a Welder/Fabricator who worked 10 years for a rigging/machinery moving outfit. Made great money but was on the road all the time and tended to piss away all I had made on the road once I got home. Currently working as the shop manager/shop hand (ie: flunkie,go-fer,punk) for one of those bathroom remodeling joints. Wife of 4 years is the general affairs administrator for a japanese / american auto part firm (she's also a glorified go-fer). Fishy

SwampHunter 0 Report post Posted June 23, 2005 I paint the M's on M&M's. My wife puts those little red tear strips in the Band Aid packages that no one ever uses. Actually, I was a full time waterfowl guide and I worked various other jobs in the summers. Was a housing Sgt. for a correctional facility for 3 years, warehouse worker, red iron construction, cable, etc........ I messed my back up 3 years ago and was almost paralyzed. I had four surgeries, countless injections and such. Doctors want to operate ONE more time. Not sure if I want to roll the dice again. I have days when I can get around just fine, and I have bad days to where I can barely get out of bed. Basically self employed. Was carving full time, but had a problem with my lungs. Now I do a few pen and ink drawings once in awhile. Looking at getting into fly tying and selling those also. Thought about buying a few canoes and renting them out to folks going looking for the Ivory-billed woodpecker since I live right next to the swamp. Own everything..... house, two vehicles, and such...... so having a high paying job is not important. Wife works in a warehouse. She makes pretty good money for this area. I try to get her to start her own business doing something at home. She is happy where she is. Ronnie Ladd

Mato Kuwapi 0 Report post Posted June 23, 2005 Way to go Nealbo! That takes real guts these days. All the best to you and your new career. My son is trying to get in shape to do the same up here. He was unemployed for a while, had been already to finish his application process when he broke some bones in his hand an wrist. He's now employed working with sheet metal and I think he dislikes the job enough that he'll work harder at getting ready for the Army. Me: I was a Board Certified Human Lactation Specialist for twenty years. I retired from that a few years ago. (burn out). I then started working in retail selling Outdoor gear and clothing. (Climbing, Paddling sports, camping, backpacking etc). The store closed its doors after a six year run. I also taught outdoor skills and survival skills (Air Crew/ Winter / how to be found etc. ) to various groups, both adult and youth. I was working up until receintly at a Rod and Tackle shop. I left there not long ago and decided to take the warmer months off to get some more fishing in. My other half works for Labatts Brewries of Canada in I.T. I have one daughter who is now married to an MD. She's an Engineer at General Dymanics. (LAV's) The one son I mentioned above...the other is currently a professional party goer. He just turned 19 yesterday. One more daughter who has just finished her last day of Grade 9. She's already bored. I can't seem to convince her that fishing is fun. JoeBillingsley 0 Report post Posted June 23, 2005 This is a great idea. It makes the names on all the posts that I read a little more human. I was a high school and college baseball coach for a few years, but have been in the golf business for quite a while now. I managed some retail stores for a number of years and recently have been what is called a "Tech Rep" for Taylor Made until this year when I had to quit to help my Mom take care of my Dad, who had a couple of mild strokes. That is if you can call any stroke mild, especially at 85 years old.
