uffepuffe 0 Report post Posted June 23, 2005 Friends, here is my first try on a caddis larva. The colouring go a bit strange, it seems that the markers didn't stick on the body material. So I'll re-colour this one later, but thought I'd show it to you anyway. I'll update it with more pictures later. Ulf

Guest Report post Posted June 24, 2005 VERY nice indeed What did you use to wrap the body?
uffepuffe 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2005 I'm experimenting with body material for the moment by using a kind of rubber tube used by electrician for isolation. The really smart thing about it is that when heated it shrinks down to 1/3 of it's original size! Here's how the second try is coming along, this time I let the segments partly cover each other, looks better. /Ulf

uffepuffe 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2005 And here's how the secon one turned out, I think it got better than the first one. Underboyd of copper wire (if I use lead it melts when heating the tube ), the gills are ostrich and legs pheasant tail fibers. Ulf

arkle 0 Report post Posted July 17, 2010 Hello newb0999 & welcome along. The pheasant feathers that seem to work best with this technique are those from the tail of golden pheasants. Simply hold 1 fibre & pull it away from its natural direction on the quill & you will (after a few attempts) be left with perfect individual legs.
