chugbug27 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2023 I came across an old vise with this maker's mark on it. I've seen it before but I can't remember where... Anyone recognize it? Thanks in advance...

chugbug27 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2023 Thanks niveker! Does your universal have any other makers mark showing it's a universal- made vise? Or is that the maker's mark?
niveker 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2023 I believe the wing bolt on the top has the same design on it, I will take a closer look at the vise when I get back home this afternoon.
Jaydub 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2023 I think that is just an off-the-shelf wing bolt that Universal happened to use.

chugbug27 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2023 Hmm... Here's the vise. Can't find it googling best I can... Pull collet with a "T" shaped handle. Plastic knob at the bottom, which I suppose dates it '50s or later, otherwise all metal, steel with cast iron base & handle, simple construction nothing fancy, but has a nice feel to it, built to last. Soldered joint, steel rod bottom is sawn off and filed at the edge.

Interesting, no "Universal" marking anywhere on mine. 1 hour ago, Gene L said: Does your universal have any other makers mark showing it's a universal- made vise? Or is that the maker's mark? Both wing bolts have the design on their flats, the only other marking is "Pat. App'd" on the vise wheel flat. I tend to agree with what has been said above, that its an off the shelf wing bolt. mikechell 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2023 I'm fairly certain that's the logo repetitively displayed on this space craft. I got this picture on one of my journeys through the Antares Nebula.
