Prior to the jig I used a belt sander to scarf plywood - that jig paid for itself in time and belts in the first use, but it is only good for plywood up to 3/8 inch thick (suitable for most boatbuilding) after that it's back to the belt sander unless you come up with a 10" circular saw. Truthfully the only time I have scarfed 3/4 ply was for RV slide out floor repairs.

Wow, I have to eat crow. I can’t believe the book got there so fast. I dropped off Wednesday morning and it arrived today. NICE!

It's almost like they do the thing properly every once in a while just to prove--maybe to themselves as much as anyone else--that they still can do it. 😄
