mb82 0 Report post Posted July 5, 2005 How do you all make it so the tail of a crawfish fly is split like it is a set of claws? I have been trying for years and have never gotten it down Thanks Jeff

Blueman89 0 Report post Posted July 5, 2005 Are you using one or two clumps of deer hair? If 2 then tie them on the sides of the hook.Do this one clump at a time. Then take your thread and make a few wraps around the base of the hair. Then wrap your thread back onto the hook shank and make a few tight wraps. Do the same thing for hackle tips. For one clump of deer hair you do the same thing except you tie the hair in on top of the shank. You then split the hair into two clumps and do the same thing with the thread. Al Beatty 0 Report post Posted July 6, 2005 Hi Jeff, On my crayfish patterns I tie on the carapace material so it will force the claw material to remain separated. Take care & ... Tight Lines - Al Beatty www.btsflyfishing.com
