smallmouth rule the warm water....i do however have a love for fish with teeth....pickerel on top water with a zoo cougar, or bass bug....oh my....the water explodes and the fight is on.....walleye....nothing like seeing those glowing eyes coming up from the depths with a streamer hanging out of it's mouth full of spikes......i have yet to go for muskie or pike.....maybe soon...

Bluegills! #1

LMB. #2

Anything that bites. #3

As far as the "exaggeration" of needing a 9wt to land a 4# 'gill, if it IS exaggerated, it's not by much! Best fight for the pound of any fish I've ever fought. With 58 years and many different species of fish behind me, I'd rather catch a big 'gill than anything else that swims.

I voted, but just for you old man. I picked bass but really its river fish for me in the summer. All river fish, inlucding creek chubs, kill the popper here so what I get is fine with me.

Hey, Jeff, never look a gift chub in the gills! Took a huge chub last fall that hit a craw pattern. Fought just as hard as any trout of the same size! Good to see you on the board, Jeff. Work slowing down a bit?

Smallies so far, Kentuckyies a close second because its so hard most times to find them. I hear brown trout can be tough. Those river/creek/current swimming fish definitely my favorites.

Man I wish we had Peacock Bass or even smallmouth bass in KC. My favorite is White bass or Crappie. I've just bought an 8wy and am looking to start after Hybrids and Carp. One of the local ponds in KC had a 10lb class hybrid wash up dead on the shore, and you can see them chasing shad into a circle. I am really interested in Carp. I tied into a 15lb one on a medium weight wal mart special, best fight of my life!! Ruined that cheap reel but man was that fun!! I know that the streams around my house are absolutely loaded with carp, and this summer I am going to spend some time chasing them. Happy holidays, Travis.
