DWSmith 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2023 He just offered me a $10 refund. Good enough! Didn't hurt to ask. Spools are listed for $30. $10 will help out.
DWSmith 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2023 Just bought a spool for $15. Seller claims it's in Excellent condition. We'll see. That will put the reel and spool at $40. Should outlast me.
niveker 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2023 $40 for a reel with an extra spool is a good price if it all works as it should.

DWSmith 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2023 Well, IMHO the $15 spool IS in EXCELLENT condition! Now I have a much better reel to go on my old fiberglass rod. For quite a few years I've been wanting to replace the old reel I have on it. I thought about putting it on my 6 wt graphite rod but with that adjustable drag I thought it would be better on my 7 wt fiberglass rod which I would be more likely to catch a bass or catfish or carp on than my graphite rod. The 6 wt graphite rod has a reel with a spring & pawl drag on it and I can palm the rim on that reel. You can tell from the center of the new Pflueger Medalist spool that the line notch is oriented for using the reel with right hand retrieve which is backwards to modern thinking. Oh well, I'm happy!
