Ticks and chiggers.

I went outside for 45 minutes a little while ago and since I have come inside I have picked off at least 10 ticks in 30 minutes.

The only thing I hate worse than ticks are chiggers and chiggers love me.

I've been fighting the ticks since Easter and they just keep getting worse.

Now that I've eaten a sandwich and had a cold glass of water I'll have to head back outside.  Dang!

Do you know about Permethrin spray for clothing?

It will kill ticks. They just fall off when they start crawling up your pants.

I spray it on my waders and fly fishing vest. I've seen tick crawling up my waders and then they get paralyzed and fall off.

Permethrin spray bonds to fabric fibers for up to 6 weeks or through 6 washings (whichever comes first) and won't stain or damage clothing, fabrics, plastics, finished surfaces, or outdoor gear; odorless after drying

Reduce likelihood of a tick bite by 73.6 times by treating shoes and socks with Permethrin (University of Rhode Island study - 2017)

I hate ticks with a passion. Had one bore into my side and left a small scar about 5 yrs ago. Blood sucking little bastards. I use Sawyer tick lotion on my body.... and Sawyer tick spray (gear / clothing)  on my fishing shirts/backpack/vest/hat/and anything else that is clothing/canvas that I take to the river. I think they work great because since I started using the lotion on my body and treating my cloths/gear about 2 days before a trip I have not had a tick on me yet.

This is the lotion I use.  -  https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/sawyer-picaridin-insect-repellent-lotion?ds_e=GOOGLE&ds_c=Cabelas|Shopping|PMax|Camping|General|NAud|NVol|NMT&&&gclid=Cj0KCQjwpPKiBhDvARIsACn-gzC5Pr9KDq14uFsvfMF__lAD8kQ_xcnaWVP7ahO60gNuKUe0gx-hXskaAkqDEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

And this is the spray I treat my clothing/gear with. - https://www.dickssportinggoods.com/p/sawyer-permethrin-clothing-insect-repellent-16sawuprmthrn24zsodr/16sawuprmthrn24zsodr?sku=11847186&camp=CSE:DSG_92700072972539073_lia_pla-1746741795582_58700008025040437_71700000100321795&segment=&gclid=Cj0KCQjwpPKiBhDvARIsACn-gzDisSu7msQbZ-PywzMWpyVWCwvI2nNXsPuvL_cSWV32o8t9a6UiiEIaAnTkEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

I'll have to get me one of those...soon!

We have lived out in the country 16 years as of last December and I've had only 2 tick attach to me during that time but I've gotten countless of them off of my skin before they attached.  I'm hairy to the point I've been called a gorilla behind my back and because of the hair I can feel a tick crawling on me too easily.

I retired in January and have been spending more time outside this year.  This time of year the ticks here are really tiny to the point I don't feel some of them until it's too late.  So far I've had 3 attach to me this season.

I'll get some of the  stuff you guys recommend.

Thanks!

Pick up a tick Key as well. I keep one on my fishing backpack. They come in real handy if you have one on you that starts to bore into your skin. With the key tool you can get them out without worrying about breaking the head off and causing any infections/issues. You can get the tick key at Walmart for about $4

I'll have to get one of those too!

The other night I got out of bed and went to the bathroom only to discover a tick attached in a sensitive area so I plucked him off.  Bad move!  Now it feels like I've grown a 3rd ... er ... uh, well ... never mind.

Hope you don't have the kind that cause alpha-gal syndrome. My father in law and sister in law both have it now thanks to tick bites.

alpha-gal syndrome...First thing that came to mind was "alpha"=clan leader..."gal"...Sounds like it turns you iinto the meanest gal on the block. Then of course, google, and the symptoms for me might be even worse. I am definitely a red meat eater of the first class. Almost every meal with the occasion of my monster salad night and even then I include chopped deli meat or fried chicken chunks. Severe reaction to red meat would not work well for me.
