mtntroll 0 Report post Posted May 16 I collected a large amount of musk ox quivit on a recent trip in the arctic. My wife knitted an warm hat & there's a good amount left over. Anyone have experience tying with this material? Any tips appreciated.
cphubert 0 Report post Posted May 16 mtntroll, welcome to the site- I would think any pattern calling for wool would be acceptable for quivit. If it is spun use it for a yarn body or not spun for dubbing or wool head sculpin flies? I have never used it but wool like underfur should be easily used. flyflinger 0 Report post Posted May 20 Interesting! Welcome, and thanks for sharing. I'd be curious to hear how it works when used as dubbing . . . I can't tell from the video if it's fine, course, or somewhere in between. Regards,

mtntroll 0 Report post Posted Saturday at 01:55 AM Howdy Darrell P, The qiviut doesn't seem to have any oil, or at least not like sheep wool/ doesn't leave oil on the fingers. It is very light, fine, has no discernable scent & it's softness is remarkable. Looking forward to getting into it soon.
