FF in NYC

Recommended Posts

I have fished since I was a kid, took up fly fishing a few years ago, and have been wavering about fly tying for some time. My wife's away on a work trip so after getting a cold beer out of the fridge I decided that now was as a good a time as ever to order some fly tying equipment. I ordered the Danvise from JS and am looking forward to receiving it. The next month or so is very busy so I may not get to actually tying anything for some time. I live in New York City but there is actually good fly fishing not so far away. About 45 min.-1 hour north of here is the Croton watershed system which has wonderful fishing in the reservoirs and rivers found in the watershed. Also some fishing is to be had in Central Park, in the middle of Manhattan, something which most New Yorkers don't even believe. I am very glad that I found this website and I look forward to sharing with everyone my tying adventures.

Yep I always heard that that area had good fishing when my parents grew up( Dad is from Pompton Plains NJ and Mom is from Clifton NJ) Dad talked about fishing Central Park one time and decided he did not like it because there were too many people nosing in on him while he was fishing.

Welcome pitman!

Glad to have you with us! Don't worry to much about starting tying. Living in NYC, you will have a long snowy cold winter to tie. laugh.gif
