Trouttramp 0 Report post Posted August 28, 2023 4 hours ago, niveker said: Nice royals, TT. I like that Trude style on a salmon hook. I do well with a winged wet Royal Coachman, who knows what the heck those crazy brook trout think it is. I would think this one would push a lot of water and also do well. Thanks, The trude is really to big for trout, I tied it just for fun, going to put it in my fishing hat band. I have had some success with the smaller Wolffs, the lager size royals I will hang a small dropper behind it.

niveker 0 Report post Posted August 31, 2023 Spuddler, v3 Last week I tied up two Spuddlers for the challenge thread. The more I looked at them, I thought they should be tied bulkier to better represent their intended imitation, a sculpin. This one's a little better, I think. Used a larger hook to get more room for the spun head, changed the order of material tie in a bit, used narrow tinsel for the rib, and a different feather for the wing. Maybe a bit more bucktail for the under-wing and a longer wing feather next time. Happy to hear thoughts and opinions. - Hook: #6, 4xl Thread: Camel Weight: lead wire, front half of shank Tail: Brown kip tail Rib: Gold tinsel Body: Yellow roving wool Under-wing: Brown bucktail, sparse Over-wing: Partridge wing feather x2 Shoulder/Gills: Red roving wool Collar/Head: Deer hair
