davpot 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2005 Hello Damien: Glad they finally came thru! I thought theyd get stopped for sure! That hook is the (now obsolete) 80500bl down eye. A little narrow in the gape, but I cant imagine how they mangaged the barb on those! (very antique looking I think). These hooks lend themselves to a narrower profile I think. And thanks for the comments. I am looking forward to receiving mine! And I hope these will please as well Great updates Damian! Dave

CapeBSalar 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2005 Ok, I've keep ya'll in suspense long enough I guess!! Here's Davie's and Kyle's flies, unfortunately I cannot photograph Dave's flies as I don't have a camera anymore Regardless here's a sneak peak! An added bonus is that Kyle was very gracious and framed his two flies, truely wonderful job sir! To make this all fair I'm going to be doing a random drawing so that everyone has an equal chance to get the framed flies! Davie Mcphail's Classic's Mcphail's #2 Kyle Hand's Flies Another one of Kyle's Well I'm happy to say that dispite some initial doubt of pulling this swap off I'd say it's going exceptionally well, thank you to all those that jumped on board with me and made this swap a reality!!! Cheers, Damian
speyH20 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2005 WOW! The flies form Davie and Kyle are incredible. I am never surprised at Davie's talent and Kyle's wings are way to impressive. I feel substandard! :wallbash: Vinnie

Guest Report post Posted October 17, 2005 Hello everyone, I am sorry that I had to drop out of the swap. But I didn't think my flies would measure up with other flies that were tied. I thought I had enough time to correct the mistakes that I have been making but that hasn't bappened. :crying: I will keep on working on them though. Peaty Mann 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2005 Hello everyone, I am sorry that I had to drop out of the swap. But I didn't think my flies would measure up with other flies that were tied. I thought I had enough time to correct the mistakes that I have been making but that hasn't bappened. :crying: I will keep on working on them though. Jim Hi Jim, I believe that the idea of swapping flies is so that we get a chance to see how flies are being tyed in all levels in tying, and a swap gives us that opportunity.I didn't enter the swap to get a fly for nothing but to form friends with other tyers from round the globe in which I would never have had the chance to meet and that we can learn from them. To be honest I feel the flies that I have tyed could be a lot better but that wouldn't stop me. All the best Davie
speyH20 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2005 Howdy Jim, I felt the same way Jim. It seems the harder I try to fix something the more difficult it becomes. So, I just take it easy, work on a fly for a few days or weeks and let it be. I look forward to your participation in the next swap. Keep at it buddy.
